A good +800W modular PSU

Anything but Corsair!

I have a Corsair TX650W, and have bad experinces with it.
Bought it for my 5 days old i7 system.

Problem is, that when my computer is loading a game, program etc. the PSU produces a high pitch whine sound, and i'm 100% it's from the PSU. It also happends when i'm scrolling and certain websites, and when i'm playing.. higher fps = louder whine.

I'm extremely sensitive to sounds, so even if there's nothing wrong and it's all normal, i simply can't live with it

I've been searching and found out, that it's a normal problem with Corsair PSUs.. it's something related to between the GPU and the PSU.

Spending hundreds of dollars on a 800w + PSU that might be needed for tri sli in the far future is ridiculous. You could buy a antec tpq 850w right now, and the money you save could be spend to go with SLI-ed GTX260's right now, instead of in the far future. http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16817371009

Thank you for the recommendations. Unfortunately, i can't buy the TPQ psu's anywhere, except for one very untrusted and expensive eshop.

I would contact Corsair about your PSU. I hear they're very good about replacing noisy units under warranty.

Agreed. If you explain the situation they'll probably be more than happy to replace it for you.

I've never experienced that with my TX650 but I would RMA. They have great customer service.
