I went to a section meeting for geography that is not my regular one, because I missed my meeting. The TA made everyone introduce someone else and all that garbage. Well this one girl's great uncle started the Mexican revolution! He was the freaking president of Mexico in 1913!

A very cute hispanic girl I had in my last semester (hardly talked to her) is in my BIO101 this semester. She recognized me before I realize it was her. Oh dang she's cute. She'll probably need my help in the class since she's not very smart.

Not complaining by any means, but it's nice to see how one (my) comment can lower the standard so much . . ..

So what's the point?

It's turning into an exploitation thread, so I thought you may want to steer things in the right direction. As of the moment, I have no idea the purpose of the statement.

I do find the Mexican War very interesting though in the context of that era and society. (I know we can say this about every event in life, but not all interests all of us.) If things had turned out favouring Mexico, what would have become of those regions? Would some states be sovereign nations?

She always has something interesting to say when the TA requires you to all say a little something about yourself.

those regions would probably have decent looking women, with a few hotties in the mix. and um, the mexican revolution is not the mexican war...

Too bad that doesn't give her any current connections to power. From what I understand, pretty much everyone involved with that ended up fleeing for their lives from the country or ended up being killed shortly.

Very cool, now have some fun with history.

"those regions would probably have decent looking women, with a few hotties in the mix. and um, the mexican revolution is not the mexican war..."

Once I saw reference to the country and the word war, that's what I thought of.

You're right, Da Loser. I was absent-minded trying to find the purpose of the thread. But you're very right and I stand reminded. The Mexican Revolution was a civil battle, whereas the Mexican War was not.

By the way, I would hope she knows much about her relative's reign. Perhaps now that you told us about this lady, Jellomencer, you'll have stories to bring from her. Oh, I imagine you two hooking up through the process. :Q I'm messing with you! ;)

The (freaking) president in 1813 was Padre Jose de Paula Senan. I don't think he started the insurrection. But if she's cute, just play dumb.

edit--oops wrong year...my badness.

You have a countless number of role-playing possibilities here! :Q

Bravo, You have the right conflict! Unfortunately, Zapata was not president, and he didn't want to become president either. The president in 1913 was Francisco I. Madero, assasinated in 1914 by traitor Victoriano Huerta.

Regarding the conflict, the best man in the fight was Zapata without a doubt. There is a really famous quote about him. In 1916 Villa and Zapata entered Mexico City in a victory parade after defeating Huerta. They took the National Palace and Villa sat into the presidential chair . a lot of people started taking pictures. After he was done with the pictures, he told Zapata "Now it is your turn". Zapata refused to sit in the presidential chair and replied "I didn't fight for this, I fought for liberty, freedom and land for my people. In fact, we should burn this damned chair to kill ambitions about it....."

Madero was a good guy, but his idea was short of the mark.

Victoriano Huerta. Look him up.
(Not exactly the kind of guy you'd be proud of as a relative.)

Madero was still president in 1913, before the "Decena tragica"
