lol this

Kyle usually takes direction from the models. More than likely she wanted a certain look and he's just trying to fulfill her expectations.

You can see how his other pics turn out if you just go to his main page and look at his catalog. He's an amazing photographer.

He is neither amazing nor inspired. He does know how to use Photoshop.

Waaaayy to many filters, discoloration, etc applied. I think the stock photos might look ok, but these just look bad. Also, her outfit isn't the least bit hot. Good looking girl, crappy photo shoot.

After looking at it again, it looks like the person doing these photos is going for a retro/70's look in the photos. The middle two look alright in that regard, but the rest really didn't pull it off; they just look fake and overly edited.

Yup.

Looks like he might have some skill, but killed it with the PP.

It seems to me that your friend takes a much more modern approach to photography than the more traditional, meaning a lot more post-processing than what is really necessary -- overdone. In the photography and fashion world, the French call it "de façon exagérée" meaning "exaggerated fashion".

I've studied photography for years, and HDR isn't really a new concept. The first HDR imaging was done in the 30s, by a photographer named Wyckoff. His images were popularized in Time in the 50s. It wasn't until the 80s and 90s when HDR technology truly became available in professional realms (it didn't hit hobbyists/amateurs really until Photoshop CS2).

Once it became mainstream, really every photographer had to do it, and ultimately it has changed the face of photography as we know it. You might think that sounds stupid, but, consider the first color photo ever taken. It was a new way to capture the world around you. HDR? A new way to capture the world around you.

The photographer here has the eye, but after viewing his other works, it doesn't seem he quite has it yet. He has clearly been doing this for years, however, I feel that he is focusing entirely too much on the post than on the photo itself.

They are good photos and the girl a weapons-grade blonde bombshell, but, I just feel that these photos would have so much better if they looked a little more classic. She really has a classic beauty to her. I am thinking the post processing ruined her skin, the fake tan helped too. These photos are unbelievably LOUD and maybe she wants to make a statement.

But, the glory of art is that it is beautiful and subjective. I like these photos, but, I would have liked to see her, the car, and a big cornfield behind her. Maybe do some B&W photos, but drop the HDR/post processing mess.

lol @ thread backfire.

Yeah, I think most people are being a little too harsh to the photographer.
I'll agree wholeheartedly that these photos in particular are way overdone for my tastes, however the guy does have some talent if you look at his other photos on his site (though a good percentage of them are over-processed in my opinion, but some people do like that style)

His site is annoying to navigate though. Scrolling to the right to see more pictures? I thought that died out in the 90's.

On a totally unrelated note, I hate how just about every photographer charges outrageous prices for prints. I can understand if you are doing professional commercial work to hold on to your originals tightly, but just a regular photoshoot with a regular person, just give them the damn files so they can post them to facebook, share them with family, etc without silly watermarks.
That's how we picked our wedding photographer, he was one of the few professionals we found that let us have all the original digital files. /rant

That's similar to how we picked ours. It cost $100 for a CD with all the images and a release form which we happily paid.

This does look like a Michael Bay produced photo shoot.
Way too much of everything. She's a decent looking woman, now she looks like something from a video game. (not in a good way)
