A friend of mine died in a motorcycle accident on monday.

One of my old friends from high school was showing off on his bike. He was going 180 in a 50 zone and hit a car he was passing as it turned. The car was hit so hard by the bike that it spun around and Andrew was launched from the bike into a pole that tore him in half. Luckily it wasn't painful for him as he died on impact. I hate motorcycles, thats 2 people I knew this summer that have died on motorcycles because they were pushing their limits too hard. RIP Andrew Spittal wherever you are now. By the way the speeds are in kilometers per hour.

condolences to his family mate.

but that really is darwin at work...i just hope he didn't kill anyone else.

My condolences, but you hate motorcycles for this? He was doing 180. You die in ANYTHING when you're going that fast.

The people in the car were absolutely fine. As is always the case with motorcycle accidents.

You have never seen the picture of the Geo Metro T-boned by a bike then, I can't find it.

the motorcycle did not kill him

why do you hate inanimate objects? that is irrational

he made a decision of his own free will

Sorry about your friends.

Not to knock the deceased but you did say that HE was showing off and that another friend also died from pushing their limits.

I understand why you say that you hate motorcycles and i wouldn't seek to change your mind; but you have to recognize that it was the foolishness of the biker, not the bike that caused their demise.

Peace to you and the families who have suffered loss.

Eh, you're making odd statements because you're in emotional shock right!?

Your Pal was [supposedly] doing 180mph. The people in ANY car being hit at that speed are damn lucky if the escape without injury! Why is it that so many idiots (not you in particular) try justifying accidents by blaming something other than the idiocy of the loon who caused it!?

Sooooo much logic in the "it was late, no people on the road, could see for miles, am a good driver, and then just out of nowhere...."

I have ridden motorcycles for over 20 years. There is NO way i would go 180 (what bike he have to go that fast anyway?) on public streets. Thats just suicide.

this is not the mororcycles fault (as if possible) this was the chose of someone wantint to show off. looks like he did something they will never forget eh!?

Agreed. It's not necessarily speed that kills, it's stupidity mixed with speed.

This one will.

Im a long time rider as well. It is amazing the amount of performance you can buy for such a little amount of $ these days.

yeah I'm starting to see more and more people riding these huge bikes. what is annoying is there are in-experienced riders buying these for there first or second bike.

I will stick with my 600cc bikes.

Reread the post. The OP said KPH not MPH. Still way to fast on a bike.

Sorry to hear about your friends...

I must say - I don't really feel bad for them... They made a decision that was obviously a bad one and ended up killing themselves... I feel sorry for the family who has to live with this, and the family who has to live with the trauma of hitting him now...
