a floppy drive question

Hey
I am building a computer for my wifes Mom 🙂 and I cant get the floppy to work ??? the error is the typical one >>> floppy (disks) fail 40 <<<<<

this floppy had always worked as this is my old mobo (IWill KK266+) and I even used it just the other day. So far I have put in two new floppys and even
relocated the (one) A: power connecter and the only thing that I get is the green lamp to come on but nothing else...

Help !!!!!!!!!

P.S. floppys are suck !

<< Sounds like you have the floppy cable backwards. >>

Ditto..if the floppy cable has a wire with a red pinstripe on it, make sure that pinstriped side is closest to the power connector for the floppy. Most mobos nowadays are keyed to deter such happenings on that end.

Well, its still not working, the cable can only go in a couple of ways 🙁 and its still not working. I didnt bring my VOM home today but tomorrow I will so I can check the PS output.
Anyway thanks...
