At this point yes, I only care about defeating Obama and can you blame me?
Yes and no, he's clearly less bad, but there's a lot to criticize.
I don't see him doing anything substantial to bring back jobs to US.
What politicians are? I think you would see support for that from perhaps the progressives and libertarian factions, not the corporatist R's or D's.
The Republicans SAID in the 2010 election their 3 big issues were jobs, jobs, jobs - and they haven't passed a single jobs bill.
There is a large jobs bill in Congress now - from a Democrat.
All the bs that he has been giving us about congress is not supporting him, blocking his plans, is just that, bs. I mean that didn't stop him from passing Obamacare. If that dude had a real plan HE believed in, he could have shoved it down our throat just as easily. And I am talking about some real plan not temporary stimulus or just giving out free money in form of tax breaks and other benefits and hoping that the economy will recover itself.
You're right that Obama has been far from having 'his own good major plan'; he's no FDR. He's a corporatist too, with major Wall Street and similar backing. But that doesn't make him wrong that the Republicans are a big problem as well, opposing anything that will help the economy even if he had a plan to do so. The parts he does have - and stimulus might be too little but it's useful - are blocked. Obamacare was blocked and gutted to get passed the Republicans abusing the filibuster, and a few bad D's.
IMO the biggest problems facing the nation today is syphoning of jobs for cheaper labor and economical atrocities of China. Am I sure that the next person will do something about these? nope, not at all, but I want change and it comes down to Romney or Perry.
You're nutty to think that either of them have any indication of doing better on the issue of outsourcing. That is where Romney's fortune comes from.
This comes down to the corporatist agenda gaining so much power in our elections - dominating Republicans, and owning a lot of D's. Between the 2, it's a majority.
It's just an INVISIBLE majority, because people look at 'R' and 'D' and don't count the corporatists of both parties that form the corporatist majority.
Dems are not putting down any other candidates so I don't have that choice. I need a strong politician who can handle Washington and Perry can. Compared to Romney he has done more for his state so he is the logical choice. Tell me where I am going wrong.
There is a movement for a progressive in the primary against Obama (I'll support them), but the corporatist power in the elections does make the D Obama.
But the idea Perry can 'handle' Washington is a joke; the idea he WANTS to rather being a whore for them is, too.
This very thread is an example how much principle he has to 'fight for right'.
You're asking me to compare to sleazes, but I'd say Romney has the better record of standing up for the needs of his state, with his state 'Obamacare' that's popular.
Of course, he's abandon it for the politics of the Republican primary, just as Perry abandoned the vaccine issue he did the right thing on.
I don't look that much at 'jobs created' because the governor doesn't have that big a say IMO, but I do look at Perry creating the worst-paying jobs, and being happy with it.
I think his policies there speak to a horrible set of corporatist policies that poor workers are what he wants.
I strongly believe that all politicians are bunch of douchbags and humanity cannot go any lower than that, and if you want me to choose amongst the 3, I choose Perry, that's until I see any other choice.
I find that ignorant and part of the problem - how are you going to get good politicians if you have that attitude? I'd say demand better ones.
Make a priority issue for you to get rid of corporate domination of elections and you might get other choices than these three. Do you vote progressive?
If not, you are helping the corporatists.
