A flaw in the Sm 3.0 benches on this site

No way this is right. If it was, the image quality differences would be notable. Jaggies would be everywhere in the Nvidia screens.

Sounds like ATi fanboyism to me.

thanks for the link, but that doesnt address the issue, lots of sites are having different results than whats listed here , remember AA has to be enabled using the app on nvidia cards where ati had to use the control panel, you can read about it on the link i provided in my first post, i am not here to start a video card war i just want the truth.

Whether or not this is true the NV cards still made a huge headway in speed (from previous driver versions, mind you, not necessarily 3.0), because the no AA/AF benches that they were so far behind in the GT is now sometimes ahead of the XT and the PE as well on occasion as well.

Xbit Labs even shows the Nvidia cards faster than all ATi offerings in pure speed. Some cannot understand that with new drivers on the new hardware will come increased performance. The NV40 is brand new...expect more performance increases as drivers mature.

before declaring "ATi fanboyism", you should actually look into it...

a couple nv scores are significantly higher than everyone else running the same demos, while the ati scores are consistent. perhaps just an inadvertant erroneous setting? but something seems out of line....

volcano:

AnandTech:
6800U: 61.8
X800XT: 45.4

FiringSquad:
6800U: 45.2
X800XT: 47.8

research level:

AnandTech:
X800XT: 46.0
6800U: 59.3

FiringSquad:
X800XT: 51.3
GeForce: 6800U 44.8

techreports #'s are consistent with FS

bottom line is i want the fastest card i can get, i careless who makes it... i have the x800xt pre ordered but if the performance gains are ligit and can be expected in up coming games i have no problem pre ordering the 6800U instead.

Just like the original reviews of these cards. I say wait until a whole glob of these comparisons have been done and then form an opinion.

Considering other sites have guessed and anandtech hasnt confirmed or denied anything.

AA is OBVIOUSLY enabled in the screenshots.

how can it be obvious at a 1600x1200 resolution ? at that setting with or without AA everything will be crisp and clean... would i like Derek to respond, and double check, sure... just for accuracy sake.

I told you already, 1600X1200 does a good job clearing up the jaggies as it is, on top of all that those screens may not have been taken with AA enabled on either card.

I can't find where they tell you that the screenshots are of far cry with AA/AF. They do however call them uncompressed 1600x1200 images.

Isn't it logical to think that in order to show SM3.0 visual effects, if any new ones, is to disable options that mess with image quality/effects?

Something is strange with the Anandtech results.
Volcano 1600x1200 no aa/af
Anand 6800UE 86.6fps

Firing Squad 6800U 76.6fps

Anand 6800U 76.9

FS used an A64 3800 Anand an A64 3400. Would expect FS results to be higher.

Oops my bad wasn't looking real good Anand one I put is for the Ultra Extreme not the Ultra.

those differences are because of the demos used, FS used their custom demo.. and i am sure anand used theirs.. either way the cards are very close in terms of performance, my goal was to get the truth and make sure the benchmarks were indeed accurate kudos to Derek for fixing his mistake.
