Godwin's Law
I don't think the reference was sufficiently direct to invoke Godwin.

It was close enough, because everyone knows who he is referencing.

You said something non-radical and praiseworthy!:)

Education can only mold what's there to begin with. Have you watched the film? The premise is that this potential gets bred out of the population as time goes on and the dumbest people breed the most.

Maybe instead we should stop providing so much incentive for poor people to breed.

I agree - this is the first step. Do this first, and then see what else needs to be done. Personally, I'm tired of people complaining about the world's "upcoming" overpopulation; I think we're overpopulated the way it is. The whole world needs an 'only replace yourself' (2 kids per couple..would need more details, obviously) policy on breeding, which would maybe help natural selection take it's course again somewhat as the less intelligent will probably have to take slightly more dangerous jobs.

If the population drops due to war, famine, etc., then the ban on extra children could be suspended. If you have an extra, you'd either have considerably higher taxes or you can give it up for adoption free of charge (so there's no coathanger shenanigans).

This will never work. They're going to breed like rabits either way. The incentive just gives them a slightly higher standard of living.

A one-child policy sounds kind of harsh, and I've read that it's overburdening China with the elderly, who require care and are often dependents... but it would probably be better than what we've got going on now.

no, because if you aren't smart enough to know you should reproduce, you are being weeded by natural selection.
just smart is not necessarily fit.
you should probably sterilize those who breed and cannot feed their children, but incentives are unnecessary

I really don't think the thread is long enough to incorporate godwin, besides someone had to link the OP to Nazis.

The fact is that really smart people can bread the paris hiltons of the world.

My own thoughts on the matter are that we need to figure out a way to reduce the amount of unwanted children as these children are often neglected. I believe research into a 99.999% effective method for sterilization fix a lot of our problems in that regard.

The educated people have messed up this world enough. I think we need to breed based on strength and physical beauty.

Unnactractive things like acne, physical weakness and genetic propensities for obesiity should all be disqualifers for breeding.

There was an incentive (going to school and actually learning)....it's just people now have beat the system. Sadly, lots of people who did not go to school have more brains than people who did.

This arguement is highly retarded. As long as our society places a high value on becoming educated and provides incentive to do it (i.e. getting a good job and making a lot of money), then people of every class will continue to do so.

Just because your parents are amotivated slobs does not mean you're destined to become the same. As long as we provide avenues for social mobility, people will use them. There is no permanent underclass in America.
