I have a few peeves that are so irritating to me that I would pay to get them back the old way.
1) There is no easy way to get the message history in the pm box. Instead of just clicking the name, now you have to click the read box (which gives you a popup-ugh), then click message history...then you can get it, but when you click reply, it kicks you back to your main pm box-wtf? Also, now you are forced to mark each one read when you click it, and must manually mark it unread. Normally this would be a good thing, but personally, I would leave things unread that I would plan on attending to later.
Seeing that the PMs are used for FS/T probably for a hell of a lot more than anything, I could only at least if not to have it back the old way, at least a button next to each pm to get the history. Say for example I tell someone I want something of theirs to buy. I pm them, and I get a reply back "sure its yours". Now I have to go into my history just to find out wtf is mine.
2) I cant have threads sorted by date posted. Instead of constantly seeing new things at the top of the forum, I see new bumps.
3) And quite possibly most irritating of all, I have NO WAY of knowing which threads Ive been to anymore, since they no longer change color. Its really annoying to think youve found a great deal, when it turns out its the fifth time youve been to the same thread.
4)I cant right click the buttons at the top anymore. Say I wanted to go find the actual thread a pm was referring to, I would usually right click search, and get it in a new window. Now I have to choose between the PM or the thread.
The new layout I can deal with. What I just dont understand is why functionality was taken out of the board. Last time the board was updated, it was upgraded. Nothing was taken out, things were added. But this is like 3 steps backward for every one step forward. Not worth it for the smilies.
What I would LOVE to see is some way to mark posts or PMs, as something to keep an eye on. Not to subscribe or anything, just like a little thread bookmark. Kinda like how in outlook you can give things a flag to follow up on, even though youve already read it. That would be killer. Also killer would be the ability to automatically have a link to the thread/post that you PMed the person from.
The thread subtitles are a pretty good idea. And the RSS does sound pretty cool, but Ive yet to see it working. But the loss of the features above are just unforgivable.
