I'm going to do a fresh install of win XP on my new ungrade system and had a few questions, what drivers should I use for my different hardware? I have:

Amd XP 1700+
Epox 8kha+
256 PC2100 DDR
512 PC2100 DDR
20gig and 60 gig WD hdd
Geforce256
SMC NIC
Aurreal superquad
Dazzle Firewire

The only thing I'm really worried about is my Aureal Card, has anyone gotten it to work in XP?

And does just about all the programs I use now work in XP? (Netice defender, ZoneAlarm Pro, WeatherBug, Norton AntiVirus 2001, Office XP, Msft Active Sync 3.5, etc..)

Install the latest available drivers for everything.

To get your soundcard working, go here: Vortex of Sound

Follow the links for vortex2 and read the article about VIA chipsets in Win2k. It applies to XP as well.

It looks like Xp should have a driver for everything accept maybe the firewire card. If XP doesn't have a driver for your hardware or after installing XP you want to update the driver for a certain pice of equipment then visit the manufactures site and there should be a driver for the device that works for XP. Don't use the latest driver for you video card from nvidia. It didn't work for me as well as thousands of other people. Do a search on google and get an earlier version, you will be glad you did. Even if XP has a driver for your hardware you should still check and see if there is an update, usually (accept with the nvidia driver) an updated driver is better. GL.

I've got an Aureal Vortex 2 SQ2500, and it works just fine with the default Windows XP drivers. Unless you use surround sound speakers, the default XP drivers work fine. I haven't gotten some more speakers to test if rear speakers would work, but everything's A-OK right now.

If you want to look at a program compatibility database of users who input whether a specific program works with Windows XP, this site will definitely help:
Windows XP Software Compatibility Site

Well, it installed my firewire without a problem, so I would think you would be fine. As for the soundcard, I think that it should loa in just fine as well, but might only work with a 2 speaker configuration, but you never know!
