a few questions about Xbox online gaming...

well, i bought an xbox, and i'm wondering if i should give my CC# to microsoft for the Xbox Live signup. i'd rather have them bill my house directly instead of automatically drawing from my credit card... it seems they do this so you forget that you have the subscription....

so, i was wondering if it would be worth it to do this.

also, i was wondering how you could set up a popup to go off in the future telling me to cancel my xbox subscription, before they billed me again... i know it's under scheduled tasks, but how would i go about that?

lastly, does the xbox live microphone work on xbconnect? and i still am not quite clear on how you use xbconnect anyway. how does it work?

i'll check this thread in 10. going down to eat dinner now. smells like really bad spagetti... 😛

I don't have live, but I think when you initially buy it that includes a 1 year subscription doesn't it? ( in that case would they need your cc#?)

yeah, it does have a 1 year subscription.. argh...

and it was chili, not spagetti. bad chili. i mean BAD 😛

I believe Microsoft will send you an email to theaddess on file before the year is up. For the mic, If the game supports it, XBC will as well.

What Smolek said. XBC works by creating an artificial LAN by faking the XBox into thinking the computers over the internet are on a LAN with your own XBox.

They want the CC so that if they boot you off Xbox Live for hacking, not only will you need a new kit, you will have to provide another CC. It also helps them keep track of who is and is not using the service, plus I just think its a good idea. Maybe it makes sure people don't do something stupid. If after a year you don't want it anymore, they send you an e-mail and you cancel. Doesn't seem like a big deal to me.
