all of them are under device manager in system properties:

1. what does the "sync data transfer" which i can choose in me cdrom/dvdrom/cdrw drives do? by default they are off and i read in some article that i should have them on.

2. is it true that if i have a cdrom/dvdrom/cdrw sharing an ide channel with a hdd, i have to enable dma in both of them for both of them to really have dma on?

3. what does the "disconnect" which is, by default, chosen for all my drives, mean?

thanks!

sync data transfer applies only to SCSI drives....it doesn't apply to IDE drives.

And u r right...again!!!

It applies to SCSI only and will only work if ur SCSI devices are set up that way in the respective SCSI properties of the SCSI card!!

DMA for one device is independent of others.

Again, disconnect is a SCSI option and does not affect IDE devices.
