I'm planning on purchasing a Samsung 753DFX 17" Flat CRT monitor. I had a bad experience with another flat CRT in the past (ViewSonic A90f) and these were the four factosr that really annoyed me:
· Bad dark grey reproduction. Very dark greys had a "brownish" tone.
· Bad geometry. I know that some distortion is inherent in all flat CRTs, but the distortion I foud in the A90f was very high.
· Ghosting. When a light object (ie, a window) was placed against a dark background, you could see a reflection in the back. Really annoying if you have a dark wallpaper.
· Overall contrast was poor. I found that my old ViewSonic E771 had a higher contrast ratio.
I returned the A90f and went back to my old E771. The thing is the E771 has some scratches in the surface, wich cannot be removed according to ViewSonic's tech support. And since my bad experience with ViewSonic's flat CRT, I turned to Samsung. I found a 17" DynaFlat X model that looks promising, so if anyone has had experience with this model, please let me know how does it handle the four problems stated above. LCDs are way to expensive were I live, so they're out of the question.
Thanks.
