wait you work at sharkwerks? was wondering why there was a 997 gt3 in one of the photos

have been thinking about getting the shark werks carrera sport exhaust if I don't do a PSE retorfit

Yes that's correct about Shark Werks.

Is your car a 991 or 997.2?

That GT3 had a 3.9, 500 hp. Ohlins suspension and tons of track goodies. Quite a beast. It's actually for sale now for around 90k. Great price 🙂

Yep those are the sweet 16s 🙂 I weighed them at 12 lbs rear, 11 lbs front I believe. The stock wheels weren't heavy but these give it some character. I was lucky to find a 100% mint set locally and couldn't turn them down. I love the car on 16s with some nice sticky tires. Screw that 17-18-stuff, this is how Honda intended it 😛

Actually the AP2 suspension with 17" wheels was going to be the Type R version but they scrapped it and never actually made one. Our CR model is Japan's Type-S. The type-V got the quicker steering rack but never came to america.

Anyways... now I will continue my search. As much as I would want to rev to 9k, I think I'll settle for 8k and have the more useable powerband with the F22.

Honda seemed to make a major change every 2 years:

Car came out in 2000
2002 - Glass window, chrome ring on taillights, interior trim changes
2004 - F22 motor, revised suspension, 17" wheels, different headlights/tailights, and interior trim
2006 - DBW system, traction control, different seats
2008 - CR model

The F22 from 2004-2009 tend to dyno about 10hp more than the F20

Lmao Solstice over s2k. Ok....hahaha

Turbo Solstice/Sky is a 3000lb car that is a turbocharged 2.0L 4 cylinder making 260hp/260tqe.

Back in the day you could take your Solstice GXP or your Saturn Sky Redline to your local GM dealer and get a GM performance tune pushing it to 300hp/300tq and maintain your warranty even.

Factor in RWD, a more user friendly powerband, and similar weight and power to a Boxster S, you sir have one mean machine for half the cost of a boxster.

It also dominates class A autocross, so much that the S2000 which used to do great in A class has now been pushed to B class.

(S2000 CR's are still in A class)

No hate here - I think the Solstice/Sky look cool, and I've heard good things. But I love the S2000. I think its engine is like crack-cocaine and I am a huge fan of the tach/gauges, styling, interior, build quality, reliability etc. The GM is faster, but I didn't buy the S2000 for 0-100... I've had plenty of faster cars and still drive Porsches almost every day that make the S2k seem like a school bus 0-60 in comparison. Yet still I have this thing in my garage because it's really that fun to drive.

Honda barely made any money selling the S2k, it's one of the few affordable cars that rarely shared parts with other cars under the same auto manufacture.

Too bad Honda won't build a factory to make something with a traditional front engine rear wheel drive layout. All their factories can only make front engine with some half ass computer controled AWD system instead.

S2k's, first gen Insights, and NSX's were all made in the same Suzuka plant (before it burned down) in limited numbers because they couldn't produce a car with that platform the same way a Civic/Accord could.

I guess I'm asking too much from Honda because they focus alot on being the leading motorcycle manufacturer world wide... and are alot smaller than Toyota/GM/BMW who make a wide range of products big and small, FWD/RWD/AWD/Motorcycle/Machinery/etc.

Needless to say you'll see me on here about once a year trying to find the perfect S2000 to buy and I can never find one because I'm too much of a perfectionist...

Basically wanting either a 2003 White/Tan leather (only year AP1 came that way) or a 2004 AP2 White/Tan (again I think the only year the AP2 came that way) and all I can find have too many miles, riced out, or overpriced.

My other AP1 was a white with red-black interior (black dash, red seats, red+black door skins and black carpet I think) car, that was a beautiful combo... I thought it was too "loud" (attention-wise) but really a sexy car. I think the tan looks a little weird w/ the white. But to each his own 😉

I haven't driven an AP2, but think the high revs are the best thing about this car. If it was a DD, I might prefer the AP2 powerband. Luckily it's just a toy and for that I wouldn't want the AP2 over AP1.

Lmao Solstice over s2k. Ok....hahaha

I've driven both, the Redline has much more torque which makes it more of blast to drive imho. The s2k's fun to drive, and even though it's technically a hair faster it lacks the torque so I find it a bit less interesting to drive. There's absolutely nothing wrong with either. I was apprehensive about buying a Saturn, but after a test drive I was completely won over.
