A few Mac questions

Hey, I've been helping my grandfather set up his new iMac (the brand new line with all the new software and OS). My knowledge is basic when it comes to Macs, but I do know how to drag shortcuts to the dock bar. For some reason they end up disappearing after a while. Is it possible this is something the new OS upgrade is doing? I also know that the icons on the dock are wiped out when you drag them out of the dock, and my grandfather has a slight case of Parkinson's, so I also suspect it might just be his doing, but I wanted to confirm whether there were a few bugs with the new OS or not. Thanks.

Welcome to the Forums :) Your topic fits better in the All Things Apple category, so it is being moved over there.

Aren't any bugs that I know about concerning that issue... you may want to get Onyx for his machine, and then after looking through it for minute, find the spot that lets you lock the Dock.

I believe that your grandfather is probably moving the icons out of the dock. I've been using Leopard on two different Macs, a MacBookPro and a new iMac, and their one has exhibited the problem that you've mentioned.

I do wish that there was the ability to lock the dock, like how you lock the start menu in Windows. It'd be a huge help for people with kids, or when there are other people besides you using the computer.

Alright, thanks for the confirmation. Also, is there a way to lock the dock? One member said there was, but another didn't.
