And to my understanding, in crossfire 2x3870 performs as well as a 8800GT.
8800GT is $300 lets say (lets be realistic here people. pricegrabber'd 8800GT 512MB, $262 was the cheapest I got, oh well. That galaxy would end up being $235 for me, woo hoo. I stopped keeping track of prices after I got mine, what's done is done.). So $510 is a rip off.
Unless it was 2x3850 that = 1 8800GT(see my disclaimer?? Thinking back, I beileve it was 2x3850)... anywho, bad deal i say. But ATi fanboys wont care.
"The 1GB ram is marketing speak. Each card is not actually using 1GB...each uses 512mb only...like normal Crossfire. So this should be actually called 3870x2 512mb."
Googleing HD3870X2 1G gave me nothing but asian sites, so googled HD3870
I think (according to
http://www.bit-tech.net/hardwa...phire_radeon_hd_3870/2 ) the 3870 has a 256-bit memory bus, so 1GB is overkill (marketing scam). But why do you say the 3870x2 only really has 512MB? Any article stating/showing that to be the case (each core gets 512MB)? Moot point, oh well.
