Ok i know i missed the boat on this game last year when everyone else bought it but just picked it up with the steam sale and have a few questions.

My friends told me it was a L4D clone, this is not true from my first few hours of gameplay.

So my questions are:

1. Do you ever get enough guns/ammo to make guns your primary weapon type?

2. Should i focus all my skill points on melee weapon type bonus skills because you will never get enough guns to matter.

3. So you ever get to bang one of the hotties running around in bikinis.

4. Does the game ever get more fun that playing a game of whack a mole with a paddle for every zombie you come across.

1. You can get a good amount of ammo later in the game but honestly I'd stick to melee if I was you since the shooting is horrible.
2. See above.
3. No.
4. Not really, what you see if what you get here and it doesn't really change much past the first hour or two.

It's a decent game but you should really co-op it if possible.

Good to know, thanks.

The worst bug is that sometimes your character lvl increase +10 spontaneous.

The game was ok.

Guns are never primaries, although the game does get quite a bit more hectic once you get into later acts. It's not a bad game, my one recommendation would be to save as much money as you can with early game weapons cause the weapons scale pretty hard pretty fast in the later acts.

It's a repetitive game after about 2 hours. Worth the scratch if you have friends that play it tho.

There is a character that is a guns expert, but I can't imagine firearms would be better than melee in this games. Pick a blunt or blade specialist and get swinging! I though this game was lots of fun! Yeah, it's repetitive, but once you get some skills and upgraded gear, the game really shines. It does start slow.

every time i played Dead island i got bored within the first couple quests, in the beach.

BUT... i started playing with with 3 friends, and even though that makes it more fun, when i got to act 2 (in a city) the game became MUCH more enjoyable. Zombies start coming out from nowhere, small corridors, harder enemies... I would suggest going through the boring 1st act part, which seemed to be the REAL PROLOGUE to the game...

I played through using the guns chick, and honestly I thought they ended up being OP. By the time you reach the second island, there are plenty of guns and ammo.

Go melee, make sure to mod your weapons as they will do a ton of damage. Keep in mind that you cannot tank damage so while melee is the most effective - you still have to use evasive tactics while fighting.

Personally I enjoyed the game, although it didnt have any replay value. Co-op is the best way to play.

I wouldn't call it a L4D clone - more like a Dead Rising one.

That said, it's a neat idea but I got bored with it pretty fast.

Getting guns isn't a problem. Filling up on ammo is just a matter of going to the right place. The problem is ammo carrying capacity -- you can't really do much before you have to go back and fight the respawns of the enemies who drop guns/ammo, and to get to them you have to fight the respawns of everybody between you, and then you're fighting respawns on your way back.

The ammo carry situation is ridiculous. I ended up lugging around 10 assault rifles because you can carry 30 rounds in each to add to the ~120 rounds max that you can normally carry, but managing that inventory is onerous.

Agreed on all counts. I did straight melee for the longest time without any mods to my weapons and started to get owned at higher levels. Especially those damn rams (have to use throwable explosives). Guns suck (but are essential for dealing with the sploogy head dudes). I got about 30 hours in before completing it. Zero replay value but I really enjoyed it. I paid $10 and felt it was money well spent. Of course, I'm also the sort of guy who continually got joy from running over zombies. That just never seemed to get old for me.
