A Feature I'd wish to see in Cases

It's been forever since I've posted but I find I go in a cycle of interest as I'm about to spend $$$. Then I am about to and I'm all over this forum for a while LOL. Now I'm looking for a case for my big upgrade.

My question to all the fellow enthusiasts around here....

CASES....

I'm just wondering why we still have to struggle with hiding power cables in 2008.

Why the hell aren't the higher end cases built with power rails that you can patch into? I think it's been done in the past but never really caught on... done right I could see this being an awesome feature.

Wouldn't it be nice to have power already distributed internally to where devices are going to be?

The power supply could even be in an enclosed area to completely hide it and have seperate ventilation in that compartment. It wouldn't have to be too large... then you could just patch into different connections in that compartment that alread had power lines running to the different sections of the case.

If you respond, just remember to try and wipe the thought you have of how cases look and are manufactured right now... in my mind I see something different than the typical formfactor we see now. Maybe the case would be an inch or two wider, etc.

Just my wish. Everytime I build a system, the cable management looks great until it's time to run power... unless you get out a soldering iron and extend/shorten certain cables, that perfect run is next to impossible. There is always that extra length or the cable that is too short to hide... :(

If there are some "PC" cases like this I'd love to hear about them.

to some extent I wish they would change the "card" system, and I also wondered why they never designed gpu's upside down

one thing that would be nice for a motherboard is to have two power connectors (one top one bottom) depending on motherboard/psu orientation you can use which suits you better..

I mod some pc cases for a customer few years ago, when we try to add more option hardware, it run out the space for psu connection, I add two rails for 12 volt and 5volt. it cause so many problem than we thought. the rail has to be strong enough to handle shock and high current, we have to use heavy guage cable due to high current request for power amp, and all man made cable must be double test, you better know how to do it right the first time, we abanded the idea after higher than spec fail rate on the field.

Yup, it can be dangerous to create a power distribution device that isn't customized for the PSU with which it will be used. And use some "plastic" self-resetting fuses to prevent overloading just for "dummy-proofing"...
