A DVD decoder?

I have never run into this problem. I popped in my newly puchased Scary Movie 4 DVD into my computer, and it won't run because it needs a DVD decoder. When it brgins up a list of them, the cheapest is like $15. I don't want to pay more for a decoder, than I did on the movie. Do I have to pay $15 to watch DVD's on my computer? Is there another way to do this for free?

Thanks.

CCCP (Combined Community Codec Pack) w/Media Player Classic.
That way it'll play anything no matter what you throw at it 🙂

But Media Player Classic alone should be able to play mpeg1/2/4 as the above poster already said.
