Threads like this just cement in my mind that my next home will be out in the country on a couple acres (as I listen to the neighbor's dog go ape shit 10 feet from my office window because it heard a sparrow fart a half block away).

^Enjoy having no internet, no cell, and Satellite TV.

And this seems like it would be a very effective solution in terms of cost, playability, and reducing volume.

Alesis Electric Acoustic Conversion set.

These are said to reduce the sound by about 20 decibels which is alot (percived sound pressure doubles every 6 db IIRC). Not only that, but there are other methods that can be employed to reduce the sound even further if needed.

"You rarely ever see a fat drummer (at least in the hard rock/metal scene). "

DRUGS

also, go ask your neighbors about your plans NOT atot!! the reason they haven't complained when you are being loud is probably because they are nice people, don't take advantage of that.

I have asked in the past and nobody has complained about my music. I also asked about ways to deaded the sound too. But in hindsight, I probably should have asked this question on a music forum where they know people who are in similar situations.

However, I would point out that I tend to use headphones more lately just out of preference. It allows for more careful listening of what I'm playing than Amplifiers.

I live in a house in the culdesac in my neighborhood, and while I don't live in a townhouse I live in a small 1 bedroom house and I have a neighbor across the street that plays drums and my girlfriend and I can usually hear him, but only when his window is open. We don't mind it much since he mostly plays during the day.
