A: drive randomly accessed...

My A drive is randomly being accessed, as it starts trying to read a disk even when no such command was placed. I leave my computer on over night and it is very annoying to be woken up to the sounds of the A: drive whirling. Does anyone know what may be causing this? Thanks

Good point, I'll check up on that. However, it only seemed to be occurring recently, so I'd like to say that it's probably a problem related to a recently installed piece of software.

I used to have that when Office was installed. which then activate fastfind on boot somehow in the background. I just deleted it from the start menu, and after that it stopped doing it.

I don't know that this is exactly your problem, but here it is anyway. My Dad recently got a new computer with Win ME installed and was encountering a similiar problem. I solved the problem by clearing the 'Documents' folder accessed from the 'Start' button. He'd copied some files from the A: drive onto the HD and when you open the 'Start' it would automatically think you were trying to access a file orginally on A:-drive.

Hope this helps.
