A doctor sees 500+ patients a month?!

JEDI

Lifer
saw my doc, who is always booked.

He saw me for 20min.

doing the math, 8hrs/day x 60min / 20 = 24patients/day.

At 22days/month, thats 24x22 = 528 patients/month 😱

Lets go further into his $:
assume insurance + copay = $50/patient.

$50 x 528 = ~$26k/month = ~$300k/yr 😱

This is shocking to you?

A good doctor can make well north of 300k/year.....

I've read somewhere that factory work for doctors, they suffer alot of burnout and can't do it forever

I had to book a dermatologist appointment a month before the appointment actually occurred recently because the doctors' schedules were so busy. And this is a place with 8-10 dermatologists.

A great many (false) assumptions.

By this logic; a mechanic does oil changes, charges $30/change, does 3 changes an hour = 90/hour = 720/day = 17280/month = 207360/year. Therefore a mechanic doing oil changes makes 207k/year.

The OP is a moron. Now, add in his costs - employees, insurance, office space, equipment, etc... He's not making much and why many doctors aren't interested in being general practitioners and pcp's.

PCP and general doctors are often skipped, thanks to the vast info on internet to patients. They generally skip right to specialists rather than meeting this jack-of-all-trades retard that would tell you obvious things anyway.

Malpractice insurance costs are the #1 expense of doctors. They are not left with much after that & all other costs, especially for low-end doctors like PCPs.

OP, use some brain...

You are lucky, my doctor triple books, every time I go there I have to wait 3+ hours. People are always walking out and if you do stick around and finally see him he rushes you.

Sorry I'm bitter because of useless PCPs that waste my precious vacation time and utterly doing nothing but to refer to others.

Either you have a bad PCP, or your expectations are not aligned with reality. Either way, a gross generalization is, well, foolish.

Family Docs make 100K + (like ones at Kaiser start there)
Surgeons make 300K+ to infinity
Radiologists 300K+
etc...

Docs make $$$

post up their student loan amounts too.

and their 20s. if you go right from high school to UG to Med school to residency...they'll be 30, give or take a year depending on the speciality, when they're out of residency and they start earning more than the equivalent of $12-14/hr or whatever a resident makes.

The best part is, he can be COMPLETELY wrong and cost you a bunch of money along the way and as long as he doesn't cause harm, you have to pay.
