I doubt there is any rush to the Republican Party given the Head Moron is doing everything he can do to destroy conservative principles.

And I'm afraid the vast majority of Americans havethe same view of the speech as the Democrats. Check out this CNN Poll:

I'm sure Fox has a rosier one.

You might as well have just said, "here's a pessamistic poll taken by liberals with utter bias that means nothing". :p
Because you don't agree with it?

Of course. Otherwise it would be a "conclusive affirmation of America's broad support for this President."

Throughout the State of the Union speech this evening, I sat apalled of what I was viewing. The longer it went, the more disgusted I became. I certainly had no beef with the words of President Bush, who gave a very politically commanding and commendable speech, but my beef was with the Democrats sitting on left. Not only is their location in the chamber ironic (intended?), but also the location of their butts and hands. They really were sitting. Rarely clapping or giving standing ovations... certainly understandable for some issues they traditionally oppose, but even to even common sense statements made by the President!

I could not help but shake my head in disbelief with a rather warm and comical feeling of awe at how incompetent most Democrats at the event tonight really are. On touching such policies and initiatives such as the consequences of eliminating tax cuts, keeping social security alive, liberating two countries from oppressive regimes and instilling sovereign democracy, the sanctity of marriage, helping senior citizens with healthcare and ensuring that no child is left behind academically, Democrats sat on their asses with nary a twitch during times when the rest of the chamber were on their feet in supportive applause. Oh, excuse me, Ted Kennedy did actually twitch in disgust and shake his head the entire time- I forgot that part. And Hillary did her traditional "yeah whatever" sarcastic presentation of standing slowly, and clapping slower. These actions tell Americans and other viewers that Democrats are against such policies. For attempts at positive PR on international television, Democrats certainly are continuing to make fools of themselves, even when they know they're in the limelight. Immature booing and rolling of eyes on-camera are not only unprofessional, but disgraceful to the process and the speaker.

It's no wonder that with such displays of incompetence that so many Americans are seeing through the bullshit and standing behind The Republican Party more and more every day. Such disregard and pessimism by the leftists for even the most obvious virtues of American life is not helping their chances come this November in elections across the board. Whether it is because they suffer from ignorance or they are just acting as-is because of their hate for President Bush, neither reason nor excuse is justified. Until Democrats shape up their behavior, the GOP is going to rock hard for years to come. Obviously.

Nonsense like this makes me tired, and sad. For about a year, when I was first learning politics, back before I cared about a right-left spectrum, I thought that the people who completely disagreed with me were just poorly educated or naturally dumb. It seemed natural...I've always done well in school, and my views were (I thought) informed. Then, I grew up. I realized that there are intelligent, good people who just believe different things than you. Further, there are morons, demogogues, and zealots on both sides of the party lines. Neither side is right, neither side if wrong. There's no "seeing through the bullshit," cause there's a heavy layer of the stuff on both sides of the aisle.

Also, "my beef was with the Democrats sitting on left. Not only is their location in the chamber ironic (intended?),"? Are you serious? Take some American government classes, then some world government classes, then some world history classes - pay special attention to the French Revolution. If you really think that the Democrats sitting on the left side of the aisle is ironic, you really need to rethink your sense of superiority over these "incompetent" leftists.

To me it is more about showing respect for the President of the United Sates.

and if it is okay to show such disrespect as the poster described then maybe it would be acceptable for the Dems to start heckling the President during the State of the Union. Maybe start throwing some fruit at the President when something they do not agree with is said.

It could become a "Democrats Gone Wild" video that would be advertised late at night

or course all this would still apply when we had a Dem President...Repubs are just as bad when the roles are reversed

I steal the following from Tallest1 sig.

State of the Union: We can only achieve peace by pursuing unending war, We can only save our freedom by giving up our liberties, We can only fix our half a trillion dollar budget deficit by collecting less revenue and spending more money, The three million jobs lost since 2000 pale in importance to the 1000 created last month, We can only preserve the sanctity of marriage by amending the Constitution to deny rights to homosexuals. War is Peace. Freedom is Slavery. Ignorance is Strength.

If I had been in the Capital listening I would be rolling my eyes too. Fortunately I was on the road and so listened to the SOTU speech on the radio. It is difficult listening to Bush on the radio but absolutely impossible to watch him on TV!

Thanks Tallest1 for letting me borrow your words.
