Birds fall from sky over town

THOUSANDS of birds have fallen from the skies over Esperance and no one knows why.
Is it an illness, toxins or a natural phenomenon? A string of autopsies in Perth have shed no light on the mystery.

All the residents of flood-devastated Esperance know is that their "dawn chorus" of singing birds is missing.

The main casualties are wattle birds, yellow-throated miners, new holland honeyeaters and singing honeyeaters, although some dead crows, hawks and pigeons have also been found.

Actually, my statement was the 'alternatively' part to your OP. Hence the "Orrrr" at the beginning.

You can't lay out an alternative to an alternative when the second alternative is the original. Duh.

I normally dont' pay attention to news but was thinking this might have been releated, but 63 dead ones in Austin, Tx USA compared to Australias 1000's is no match.

Mystery solved

Two Volcanoes spewing massive quantities of ash simultaneously:

1-9-07 Montserrat volcano shoots ash cloud

The volcano's latest burst of activity began on Dec. 24. Glowing streaks of red from the pyroclastic flows have created nighttime spectacles visible across much of the island.

1-9-07 Nicaraguan volcano spews rocks and ash

A series of explosions and strong winds sent the ash and gas at least 1,640 feet above Telica's crater.
