a different keyboard thread: best fast touch-type kb?

what's the best desktop keyboard for typing really really fast?
I know a lot of laptops, especially IBM, have fast keyboards, but I want something for my desktop
I've been using an ms natural kb for 5 years, but it's really annoying....you have you smash the keys down

edit: I want something with really easy keys for fast typing. the best keyboard I've ever used (for my hands) is the one on the IBM 240 laptop. so one similar to that would be the best for me

I know everybody likes IBM Model M keybaords, but from what I've read, they require quite a bit of force to press down then keys, which is what I'm trying to avoid

I'm partial to the older Dell quietkey keyboards. The newer black ones feel a little too mushy for me.

i use this

The keys are really soft and goes up and down quickly without delay and noise (kind of like the keys are supported by a sponge). I personally am not a fan of wireless keyboards, but I'm pretty sure the much accliamed Logitech Duo uses the same keyboard.

I prefer my Dell laptop keyboard to any keyboard I've ever used.
On my desktop, I have a 10+ year old Northgate omnikey. It's one of those clicky types, pretty good too but it's a litle loud, can disturb others next door.

i use that keyboard too, i love it. really cheap too.

I find that I type faster with the older loud ones with hard springback action (kinky 🙂), but I prefer the quieter sound of my newer Logitech.

IMHO, you heard wrong... the black dell keyboards are harder for me becuase you have to hit them dead on...

you should try out a M for yourself and then see...
