I bet it looks worse than it is. A good shop will be able to fix that back like new pretty quickly. It'll be fine.

The appraiser from AAA checked it out today and the total will be $1350. They're replacing the fender, door (especially since the side impact beam was compromised), and fixing the dent in the rear quarter panel.

That's insane. It sounds like a used sheet metal and bargain line single stage paint price.

That's weird how it did so much damage on two separate parts of the car. What was your deductible OP?

something doesn't add up... that's a grand worth of paint work alone... you are painted damn near half the car

replacement parts, r and i the parts, prep, no way it's 1350. if it is, I would HIGHLY question the quality of work.

This. 1350 doesn't add up unless its some cheesy aftermarket body-part, crap paint job maaco style junk. I had a 2007 f150 I was rear ended in once. Just to replace the bumper and they charged the other guys insurance $900.... $1350 for all that would make me nervous.

OP you have a right to get your own appraisal. In fact I'd take it somewhere and not even mention insurance and see how much they quote you. Don't let them use aftermarket/repro parts; demand OEM FoMoCo parts. Even A grade used parts would be worlds better. I'd say you also have a case to get the entire car painted considering how much that one side would stick out when done, blending doesn't work on half a car.

It looks like they're just REPLACING these parts not painting them. Most of that is probably labor and parts delivery.

The price of the door is something like $625. Is that about right for an OEM Ford part? Would that include the interior panel, speakers, window, etc?

Edit: The estimate says all parts are OEM unless otherwise specified:
Estimate based on MOTOR CRASH ESTIMATING GUIDE. Unless otherwise noted all items are derived from the Guide
DR2JC05, CCC Data Date 05/16/2013, and the parts selected are OEM-parts manufactured by the vehicles Original
Equipment Manufacturer. OEM parts are available at OE/Vehicle dealerships. OPT OEM (Optional OEM) or ALT OEM
(Alternative OEM) parts are OEM parts that may be provided by or through alternate sources other than the OEM

vehicle dealerships.

is your insurance covering all of it. it's not that big of a deal, my car is over 50K and got hit in the first year. I cried for a second too, but the insurance covered everything. then, you learn how to really take care of your car's look yoruself, because...you may soon learn the body shop is not as perfect as you'd like. xD

Well I have a $1000 deductible so it's $1000 down the drain.

But I asked for an estimate to shave the antenna from the new fender before they paint it. So if they can do that and it doesn't cost much, at least I get something out of this-- a much cleaner looking car. I'd just need to find a good interior antenna.
