A cyclist ran into my car

Yep. And, more importantly, making a point.

The point is that you're a douche? Sure. They're waiting for you to go, and you waiting makes them think that you're waiting to go first, then you move a foot and they stop because they don't want to mow down your dumbass. Either wait or go. Don't play a one sided game.

Considering I'm significantly more courteous to drivers, because I don't want to get run over, fuck them. Did I mention the castle law applies to bicycles in my state?

CCW

Someday, you will get run over for it, and with your bad attitude about it, you'll deserve it. Good luck with the CCW, just because you get run over for being a dumbass doesn't make it a self-defense shooting.

Maybe one day he'll get hit and smarten the fuck up, but I doubt it.

How are you making a point by harassing random motorists? Besides the point that you are an incompetent cyclist.
LOL. Harassing specific motorists. Incompetent? I must agree. After, no less than, 16K miles on my last bike, I still have a long way to go to catch up with you. My new hero.

Exactly. Happens at stop signs regularly. I ride in fairly low traffic areas and there is no excuse. I have started messing with the drivers. When they come to their stop, I pull up to the front right of their car, without crossing the stop line. Then I wait like there is some confusion about who has the right of way. They'll start to pull out to make the turn and I move up a foot. He, he. Pisses them off, which is the point.
And herein lies the problem of why cyclists and drivers don't get along. Admittedly, I'm not a cyclist, so I'm a little biased. Drivers are often careless or impatient. But I'm generally not the type of driver who has any problems with reasonable cyclists (i.e. I would not cut off a bicyclist while I'm making a right turn), nor would I "mess" with them. However, what you're doing "messing with drivers" is just going to result in you getting hit by some jackass driver someday who wants to "mess" with you.

Also, just out of curiosity, if there is no bike lane present, does it mean that the bicycle should behave as any other vehicle on the road? In my town, I do get annoyed with cyclists who insist on riding three or four deep on a busy major road and force car traffic to back up behind them. That's just unnecessary and obnoxious.

IMO:

Bikes shouldn't be allowed on sidewalks
Bikes shouldn't be allowed on roads with a speed limit greater than 25mph
Bikes shouldn't be allowed on roads with more than 1 lane in each direction

Cities should build bike lanes to allow bikes to get to major areas within the city that can't be accessed by low speed roads.

Yes if there is no bike lane present then the rules apply just as they would to any other vehicle on the road. They should also be traveling in single file, not beside one another (of that's what you mean by 4 deep).

I hate cyclists. I see them get hit all the time for being stupid and it brings me satisfaction. But nothing brought me more satisfaction than when I saw a biker try to smack the back of a car that was trying to parallel park while he was cycling by. He completely whiffed and lost balance and ran right into a car parked on the side of the road.

I agree x100. There are more jackass cyclists than good ones, despite what they want you to think.

You don't like bicyclists. Got it. Go fuck yourself.

A lot of people hate bicyclists. I'd be more tolerant of it if they made you guys carry insurance.

I seriously doubt that the OP's car was even noticeably damaged. Cars are 2-3 ton killing machines, bikes are not. Requiring insurance would be idiotic.

I don't hate most bicyclists, only the ones that seem to want to enforce their own blend of the laws or ride in a way that seems to intentionally get in the way. Around here cyclists and cars generally coexist without any problems. Where I used to live the only time we had cyclists were the "not from the area" types that didn't bother to think that this two lane hilly, shoulderless road with blind curves was the major road for a 100 square mile area. "Going around" would mean a 20 mile drive. But most the usual local commuter types and regulars here just blend in and flow like normal traffic and don't cause any problems.

Let me get this straight. I'm the douche because of their aggressive driving tactics? Do you approve of their "me first" attitude? Probably. Which would make you a Pud, like them.

Legally bikes are the same as any other vehicle on the road. If you are making a right hand turn they have no right to go around you. They need to sit in the queue and wait to proceed just like any car or motorcycle would.

Not true. Cyclists are supposed to ride as far to the right side of the road as practical. Here in SoCal we have bike lanes on most roads so technically they have their own lane and can pass cars on the right legally. And I've had this happen to me a number of times where some dipthong in a cage passes me and then turns right in front of me.

You're a douche because you're intentionally trying to confuse someone who has obviously seen you and is taking care not to hit you.

You must have missed the "courteous because I don't want to get run over" part.

To all: So when some ass cuts you off and you're in your car, what do you do. "Sorry I was on the road when you wanted to be there. I could stop existing in the universe if it would make you happy, Your Highness." I think not.
