First off, is there a good site that gives you all of the battles, or most of them, with IN DEPTH information of them?

Secons, what were the 'low countries'?

Next, I need a good map of World War II. Like, the attacks, the liberations, where battles were fought, stuff like that. I just need a GOOD WW2 map. :D

Fianlly, does anybody know a good website/book that tells you all of the military terms used in WW2? Like suppy line, flank, stuff like that. I know this is not WW2 exclusive, I'm just a newbie to military terms.

Can anybody help?

Well, the battles were fought if four different theatres. You're going to need a world map to see them all.

Is this for a project or just personal learning?

You need to find a library. Do you have any idea how much information there is about what you are asking for?

Try google. It may help.

Maps? You may have trouble getting full maps.

A good source for the battles of WWII is/was a TV show called BattleField. It showcased most (if not all) major battles in WWII with extreme precision. It showed maps of the battles and detailed both forces. This show is one hour long and it is like taking a college course in WWII battles. The amount of detail is astounding. I taped the 2 hour episode of The battle of Midway. I suggest finding this show. It is shown here in Ontario. PBS in Penns. was showing it too.

I hope this helps.

I think there's a "History of World War II" or some such thing with multiple volumes. Just do a search on the catalog for World War II.

Are studying every battle in WWII? Or are you going to narrow it down?

Personally, I want to look for a book that gives a full history of World War II from front to end, but not a REAL REAL REAL indepth report of every battle. Know a good book?

Which perspective? Ambrose's book Citizen Soldiers is a good account of the American frontline soldier.

A personal account? I don't want a personal account of it, I want like a reference. Like, Walter Model did this and that, not I shot a Jap.

You might see if you can find Europe: A History by Norman Davies and look in the WW2 section. I don't think it goes real in depth with every battle but it will probably give you a general idea.

I don't think there are any books that cover the entire war. Some cover just the Pacific or European front. Search on Google for World War II websites, I'm sure you can find some that will give at least brief details of each battle. If you need more specific information (about a certain battle, campaign etc) PM me, I'll be happy to help.

I wouldn't call Citizen Soldiers a personal account. It does use interviews from WWII veterans but it isn't a personal narrative.

A good book on the Pacific theater is Eagle Against The Sun Ronald H. Spector. It's not indepth but a nice overview of what happened.

If you want more detail on the battles Edwin P. Hoyt has a good series.
Storm over the Gilberts: War in the Central Pacific: 1943
Closing the Circle: War in the Pacific; 1945

For some information that you won't find in many of the books, I recomend this page. It's not light hearted reading!

Massacres and Atrocities of WWII

B.H. Liddell Hart's "History of the Second World War" is one, Europe and Pacific, some maps, etc. There are others but I don't have 'em handy right now. I've seen full books that are just atlas's of battle and front maps.

Oh yeah, Alexander Werth, "Russia At War 1941-1945". Sort of first hand, he lived in Russia during the war, has lots of quotes from many participants, quite detailed.

If you want to invest some money, consider joining the Military Book Club (there's an online site somewhere). They have an excellent selection of books, and when you consider the first books you can buy very cheaply, it's quite a good deal. They have books on individual units, battles, campaigns, leaders, weapons, tactics, etc., and they cover more than just WWII though that is probably their largest topic.

World War II: Total Warfare around the Globe gives you a pretty good perspective on every theater of the war - it's the WWII chapters of Williamson Murray's Warfare in the Western World. For maps and other resources, use the History department at West Point. Their maps are quite comprehensive, detailed, and easy to follow.
