Ok, i have a couple of problems/questions that i would love to have answered:

1) My friends power supply (Enermax 550 watt) bust a couple of months ago, i replaced it two days ago and it worked until today. Now when you boot up you get to the windows loading screen and after its done it just gives a black screen (replaced the bust ps with a stock 350 watt fortron that i had lying around, its an amd 64 nf3 mobo). What could it be? should i run the repair OS on the windows disk?

2) Another friend of mine has almost the same problem, but gets the blue screen (not sure if its before or after windows boot screen. She has had the same problem before but i ended up reinstalling the OS. This worked fine until now. Do you think its a hardware problem or does she just not know how to use a computer and installs too much adware/spyware?

2.1) At the same friends house i have installed a wireless, She has a Cablecom modem and i connected the linksys wireless one touch to it. The internet didnt work with just the web interface. the setup cd worked though, that was only for 3 days though. After that nothing worked. apparently not even if you unplugged the power of the modem and router? Do you think i need to set up any options on the modem? Or anyone know of anything else im doing wrong?

3) Im looking for a Good & Cheap & 19" screen for office work. My dad has laptops he wants to connect to it. He uses it a lot though, so the requirement is that it wont be painful for the eyes to view over longer periods of time.

4) As my dad has two laptops, he wants a "hub" that has one output to the screen and input from keyboard and mouse. and then outputs for keyboard/mouse to the laptops as well as input from that laptops to the screen. I have seen these around but i havnt a clue what they are called.

thanx

Either of these could be almost anything. Try booting up in Safe Mode -- if *that* doesn't work, try running memtest86 from a bootable CD to see if the hardware is OK. If you can boot up in Safe Mode, you might have gotten a corrupted driver or something -- a Repair Install might fix it.

Are you using MAC address cloning? The cable modem might be tied to the NIC in one of the desktop systems.

If you can talk to the router, then the problem is with the cable modem or the cable modem->router connection. Make sure the router is getting a DHCP address correctly; if it's not, then you need to start there.

You can also ask in the Networking forum.

I'm not sure what you mean by "outputs for keyboard/mouse to the laptops" (?), but it sounds like you want a KVM switch of some sort.

Thanx, yeah it was a kvm i was looking for, i ordered one from belkin as well as a dell screen, figured they must be made for long time use.

UPDATE: on 2) Apparently the computer instead of giving the windows blue screen gives a screen before the windows boot screen saying something like "new hardware or software installed has malfunctioned, to not damage your computer, your computer will now shut down.

2.1) I can talk to the router no problem. its just the internet is not working. Ill try to get into the cable modem settings.

Ok, A couple of weeks ago i called the ISP and they finally told me that i needed to unplug the modem for at least 30 seconds and then replug it so that it obtains a new ip address from the router. That worked. But soon enough it turned out every time you go to access the internet you have to restart the router. What on earth could i be doing wrong?? could it have anything to do with a wireless phone or anything being in close range, but even that shouldnt freeze the router the whole time should it????$

thanx
