I have built two very diff machines is the past 6 months and would like to know about how high i can overclock them.
1st Pentium D 820 (temps 40/65)
2nd Athlon x2 4800+ (temps 25/38)

Both have stock coolers and artic silver 5
I'm just intrested in how high either can be overclocked with stock coolers (or what temps i should stop at)

I have never overclocked b4 and thought that since the X2 was running so cool i would oc it

since posting this I have found that the fan on the 820 was only running @ about 60% I will know by Wednesday how much cooler I can get it stock

first and foremost the intel stock coolers for 775 have been, in my experience, teh suck. and looking at ur current temps i would say that it is holding true. On the 820 you could prolly get to 3.0 but ur gonna start thermal throttling so no point really. with good aftermarket cooling, however, they easily reach the 3.5-3.8ghz range depending upon mobo/ram. with ur x2, its runnin pretty cool and AMD's stock sinks are much nicer so u could prolly see somewhere in the 2.2-2.4 range. altho it could be much higher. best way to find this answer is to try as its different with every chip, even the same steppings. hope this helps a little bit. If you REALLY wann OC that 820 get an XP-90 or 120. I have a 20 dollar aftermarket Foxcoon cooler on my P4 520 and have it running stable at 3.6ghz up from 2.8 :)
