just a thought pkananen...its easier to talk to people on the boards if you enable your private messages. it isnt required, but if you are selling/trading/talking in general, it makes it much easier to get in contact with people!

the pallet i saw today here was full of the '64mb crushes' variety... only one was without the yellow badge
but i was peeping and saying to myself that i bet they were going to do something soon, glad i was right for a change :eek:

From the last go 'round it seems like if the PNY 4200 64MB box has a yellow sticker on it that says something like "TI4200 64MB Crushes TI 4200 128MB" it's almost for sure it's the card that was supposed to be in the box - a 64MB 500 MHZ 4XAGP card.

All boxes have graphs that show that performance relationship.

If there is no sticker it could be anything. Some folks got 128MB 8XAGP. Some got 64MB 8XAGP. Some got the card that was supposed to be in the box 64MB 4XAGP. All the memory here is 500+MHZ not 444MHZ.

Even if you get the 64MB 4XAGP card it's still a super deal at 80 bux. It's just that the other deals are even better.

HAPPY HUNTING!

BTW - forgot to mention PNY 4200 cards come with no games or DVI to VGA adapter. They're really trying to keep prices down. There are 3 outputs: VGA, DVI and S video.

I don't know of a single gamer who doesn't enable anti-aliasing

haha, then you don't know very many gamers! I'd venture to say that most computer game players never even heard of anti-aliasing. Obviously you know some hard-core gamers not the typical ones that would have no clue what that is.

i know what it is, i just choose to disable it. on my gf2 ultra, it tends to slow things down a bit and i would rather have 60+ fps w/ all settings maxxed out than 'no jaggies'. :)

Ah Crap, you mean to tell me doom 3 won't run well (or at all) on a 4200?

<cryfit>

Looks like I'm going to need to upgrade the vid card when it comes out, heh.

well, I may be wrong, but I thought Doom 3 ran on DirectX9, and I don't think there is support for DX9 on the 4200, but I could be completely wrong.

Doom3 doesn't use DX9 at all, it's an OpenGL game. Furthermore, as long as you have a GF1, the game will run but how well is an issue. I would think that a Ti4200 would meet the 30fps requirement but that's pure conjecture. If you want a videocard just for Doom3, then you should wait until Doom3 is out. Happy waiting :)

How is CompUsa with rebates? I've seen a couple of people post saying that they take forever.

If it is in within 2 weeks for Compusa, or 30 days for Circuit City, you can take in your receipt and they will give you the difference back.....
