If you are lucky and have a Circuit City that will pricematch after rebate prices, this deal will be even hotter. Think about a ti4200 for $70 after the 110% guarantee with no rebates to deal with.......:)

Ohh and BTW, I got a Iomega USB HD and it didn't work right. I took it back and got on the Newegg External Enclosure deal and it works great!

i'm building a system now, and am wondering if i should get the 9500 pro (178 - 20 MIR) or if i should save a few bills and get the 4200. If i can get it for 70-80 bucks w/o rebates through a PM, i think i will go 4200. I just need to run a few games, and doom 3 won't be one of them, so i should be fine with the 4200.

I have a 4200 and it will run most games fine, even games like Unreal II. You might not be able to run it at extreme resolutions with eveything turned on, but a 4200 card is a decent gaming card....:) (especially for $70!!!)

(anyway, I am just waiting for a 9800 pro) ;)

I am considering upgrading my 8500DV, I have a Dell 1800FP on the way and would prefer something more powerful, so i can play games at native with decent quality settings turned on. I don't think the DV is up to the task, I would also like to continue using my 17" monitor, so dual view would be great. I have heard talk about the 64MB 4x and the 128MB 8x cards, but I didn't pay much attention. So whats the deal. If I buy the 64MB 4x card it is actually the 128MB 8x card? That sounds good, but I heard the 64MB has faster memory, which is better, and is this is a good upgrade to consider?

Here is the scopp on the cards. Compusa had a large batch of these cards that turned out to be 128MB 8xAGP cards . The memory also was the same speed as the 64MB cards, so no problem there. Just look for a box with no stickers, and you have a good chance of getting one of the newer cards. If it has the sticker that says "64MB crushes 128MB", this is not the card you want.......

Ah so the memory speed was the same, so I guess that is a good thing, so just look for ones without the 64 crushes 128 sticker? If I purchase this on say saturday, would i be able to return later the next week and get the 60 dollar instant rebate refunded to me?

Also was this a mistake, or what? I am reading the thread about it, but was just wondering if they new it was happening. I live in Columbus, OH and there are several compusas to choose from around here, so I don't they would have sold them all already, but if they new it was a mistake they may have like recalled them or something? if not then i will have to check into this.

shouldn't be a problem. just have your receipt. if you are trying to open it and see if you got the 128 version, and you want to take it back w/o buying it again if you didn't get it, you may get 15% restocking fee.

I don't know of a single gamer who doesn't enable anti-aliasing... in a standard non antialiased configuration.. the 4200 is fairly close in performance to a 9500..... but as soon as you enable anti-aliasing the difference is obvious... the 9500 beats down the ti-4200 in every conceivable way

The proof is in the numbers

You buy 9700 pro for X dollars (lets say 300), and the $40 dollar TAP (i think it is 40 for that price tier.) One year later, you bring your card back and you can get store credit for your card valued at X dollars. If the card you want is $350 (Radeon 10000 or whatever), you pay 50 bucks for it. You can do the same thing with PDA's. I had a guy come in the other day with a 1.5 year old Jornada he paid 650 bucks for. He walked out with the HP 5455 for $50 bucks that day. Just make sure you talk to the front end manager to make sure they allow TAP to be used that way...its not offficial but most stores accept it that way.

That would ahve been nice to know. I just bought my Radeon 8500DV at compusa about 13 months ago for 350.00 bucks, that would be sweet, if i could even just go in there and trade it in to get this card for free without having to deal with a rebate, well wait, how much are 8500DV 64MB models going for now?

Let me rephrase that, i did buy the 2 year product replacement plan thingy, could i still get this to work, or did I have to ask for it before I made the purchase?
