Saw this guy at last -- my wife had been telling me about him for a couple months now, but I was never home to see. He perched in the backyard for 30 minutes or so, enough time for me to grab my camera and tripod and take 100 shots or so.
This one of the better ones that I've seen. Sorry for the small size -- flickr was the most expedient. Here's the photo: Cooper's hawk.
Shot with Sony A700 and Tamron 200-500mm at 500mm f/8 ISO 200. Cropped and sharpened a tad. This is from the JPEG file, haven't touched the RAW yet.
I didn't think to grab my remote so I was having to shoot with the 2 sec mirror lockup to minimize vibration. I didn't want to spook him by going back inside for it.
