I love my VX2025wm as well. Great color. No dead pixels. If you cant afford the NEC its definetly a good alternative.

this is an excellent monitor for the price. while lacking in some features (sv & component input; usb; height/rotation adj), the display quality is very good; differentiation in blacks, greys, etc and the text is crisp & clear. "bleedthrough" was not an issue. it's a fast display, only outpaced slightly by the much more expensive NEC (which has a "glossy" screen which may bother some, but also offers the features previously mentioned which are missing from the VX2025WM, along with HDCP support). initially i thought it was a bit "grainy", however using DVI alleviated this issue. the OSD does not support 4:3 scaling, but then that can be done via most video driver CPs.

overall the VX2025WM is a very good "bang for the buck", and if you really need height/rotation adj, take a look at the Ergotron Neo-Flex LCD Stand. it's the same excellent stand that comes on the Gateway FPD2185W 21" display.

Just to address the VX2025wm height issue quickly, if you think its a issue, which i havent had an issue with. I think that its probably going to be too low/short for most people that have an issue with it. Personally I'd rather have it too short/low because its easier to place something under and lift it up rather than trying to lower it. Only way to lower it is would be either cut the table/desk legs off or cut something off on the monitor. Neither choice is a good one for obvious reasons. So better to have it too low/short than too high IMO.

Hey,

Yesterday i went out and bought me a BenQ fp202w and stuck pixel........ returned it today and got me the vx2025wm and what a beaut, hooked it up and turned it on and couldnt see one dead pixel, used a program to check for a dead pixel and nothing ..... needless to say i am pleased as hell just from my first day of using it.

So, how tall is the monitor. I read about how getting a 20in Widescreen sometimes wasn't worth it because it would be a little short (up and down size) and acutally look smaller than a 4:3 monitor of equal size?

How does it look compared to say a 4:3 of a 19in or there abouts? (if you have anything to compare it too?)

Right now I have a Viewsonic VP930b (5:4, 1280x1024) and I love it so far, but you can't really play movies back on a 19in 5:4 so I'm looking at the monitor that you have. Also, my SLI rig is itching to play above 1280x1024.... :p

Thanks

sorry internets been down for a few days let me see if I can answer your questions, height of the monitor is 6 inches from my desk to the bottom of my screen. from the base to the top of the monitor its 18 inches high. it looks like it has alot more space compared to a f:4 19 inch, I dont have anything to compare as of now but the extra inches to the side really maek a huge difference.

Thanks,

I read up on it and my 19in 5:4 has about an extra inch (ok, 1.3 in.) in the hight.
So I guess the extra width makes up for it? ;)

Because I'm just afaid that since I've been using a 19in 5:4 panel for the past couple months that this monitor (if I do get it, because of the price) might look a little small or something like that.

4:3 can be forced through the drivers. If you use NVIDIA, select "Fixed aspect ratio scaling" in the Digital Flat Panel Settings portion of the driver toolbox.

I was reading the post and I was thinking "can't it beforced though (nvidia) drivers?"

I was just about to post that too.

Hi. This thread is pretty helpful. I just got that monitor and I have some problems yet. I see motion blur when i move my camera fast enough in WoW and on the deskstop when i move a window slowly its perrrect, when i move it very fast its still perfect, when i move it moderatly it blurs. I also haven't succeeded in making the text like nice yet, and I have enbaled clearfont. I have yet to play with the monitor settings, which I finally found out 2mins b4 leaving for work ^^;;

I'd also like to know of some tools for garuient, colors, videos and whatknots that are nice to test your shiny brand new first LCD with =0p thanks.

cause newegg will only replace a monitor if there are eight or more dead pixels.

I had my heart set on this monitor, but didnt get it because this rig all the sudden stopped working with my Viewsonic Vp171B. I got the Dell 2007wfp just for peace of mind and I dont regret it at all now. Although I really would have liked to save the extra $50.

can you adjust the hight on this monitor? and how is it for people who sit 2 fists away from the monitor? (by two fists i mean put your two fists together one ontop of the other and place it on the monitor and put your face on the other end of your fist, thats how close i have to sit because my eyes are soo bad)

No, I heard that you cannot. You have to put like books or something underneath it to raise the height on it.

You can tilt the monitor forward and back, but not up and down or rotate it. But for the price of it, it really doesn't matter to me.

And if you need to sit THAT close, you might want to see and eye doctor about that. I sit about 5-6 "fists" away, sometimes even more when I'm leaned back. Sitting that close would probably hurt my eyes. (especially on a CRT).

You cannot adjust the height on this monitor, but that shouldn't stop anyone from considering buying this monitor. It's great for the price, the colors are great and it's fast. I play FEAR, HL2, CoD2 etc. with no ghosting as far as I can tell. Good investment for someone who doesnt have $700 for the NEC

Hello all...

I bought this LCD a couple of weeks back and it really is great.

My only problem with it, and I think it's a big problem at least on mine, is the backlight bleeding.

While watching Lost (dark scenes) and games like F.E.A.R. I can really notice the light in the 4 corners. I tried to ignore it at first but I realized it's really annoying to me.

Anyone else have a backlight problem that bothers them? My 30 day warranty period with buy.com has expired and I'm trying to complain with Viewsonic. They're not very good about answering emails. I might have to call them.

Anyone RMA'd directly with Viewsonic for a backlight problem?

Thanks in advance!

Don't try RMAing it cause ALL of their monitors have backlight bleeding. As far as I can tell, my Viewsonic VP930b has it, and so does this widescreen one.

Most of the time once you adjust the brightness and contrast the bleeding should become rather minimal. I really don't notice it at all unless I look for it on my monitor.

Your monitorm might be too bright?

Sounds like Laser Surgery might be the answer?

Do the Dell 2007FPW and thet really expensive NEC have this problem as well? I read the Dell had a banding issue but I have not read anyone's post complaining about its backlight.

Man this sucks... It really is bothersome... I will try adjusting the brightness some more, but I doubt that will work.

Do some of these viewsonics have more of this problem than others?

Now that my 30 day warranty is up with buy.com, any I can get my money back (besides selling it), even if I have to pay for restocking? What are my options with Viewsonic?

Thanks again!

Can anyone tell me if they have blurr when moving windows around on the deskstop or camera in games? I heard that this monitor had no ghosting to speak of yet it annoys me a lot. If i move a window at a speed between very slow and very fast all in it is blurry, while I can see the writing is still sharp if I just shake my mosue to move it fast. That'S weird o_O
