I was in Best Buy today, and I noticed an open-box Compaq Presario Duron 750 sitting on the shelf. Being the curious person that I am, I spun it around for a look at the back. To my amazement, it appeared to be a standard ATX case with a standard ATX motherboard. It even had the interchangeable plate like is found on the back of any ATX case.
Unfortunately, Best Buy would not have been happy if I had opened the case up, so I couldn't go in for a closer inspection. It did look as if Compaq has decided to create at least one model with standard components, though. When did that start? Every Compaq I've ever had the misfortune to work on has been a nightmare, causing me to shake my head in amazement at the placement of the components inside the case. Has anyone else seen one of these, or am I on crack?
