I love the Barker Bros. add that mentions their "Tea Room". Man, times have changed.

I'd love to own one of those vintage TVs but they're pretty hard to find. A lot of those old sets weren't very reliable. Tubes would burn out frequently, which is why TV repair was such a lucrative business at the time. Getting replacement tubes today can be a big challenge. Old radio sets are a lot more common. Have a pre-war tabletop unit in my office that still works with mostly original tubes.

Love that giant beast of a camera and the massive pedestal for it at the bottom. Modern studio cameras are basically ENG camcorders modified with triax our fibre optic outputs. They still weigh enough though. :p

I remember I was watching a video on youtube on how Zenith made their TVs. It was going through the whole process from planning to manufacturing and testing. It was pretty ridiculous how many steps they went through to test and certify their TVs. You could have sworn they were making nuclear pacemaker batteries or something crazy like that. It's just a TV, their quality control was crazy!!!
