a Codec issue?

Spooner

Lifer
I downloaded a video that seems to work for the first 2 seconds, but then freezes at that screen and the video just stays like that for the whole file... but the audio works perfectly.

Is this file corrupt, or do I need a certain codec?

It's a long file and not easily "gettable" again.

There's a program out there called GSpot (really!) that examine a video file to determine which codecs are necessary to view it properly. I have no link -- sorry. Google is your friend, but I don't want to be searching for something called GSpot while I'm at work. 😉

Also, if you have the Nimo Codec Pack installed, I'd uninstall it and install the codecs that you need individually (I.E. if you need Divx, get it from Divx.com). I've had nothing but trouble with Nimo.

I've installed divx 5.05 and xvid and haven't found a video i can't play yet. make sure you have divx 5.05 not the old one
