Well, it is dependant on the person. I love the C5 looks. If they'd just upgrade the interior. :\

Civics are civics. nothing specail, very bland as Honda wanted them to be.

There's nothing wrong with that picture, it's very feasable to beat a C5 with just about any car with the right amounts of mods. I've seen someone smoke a C5 with a $800 Dodge Omni with $500 of mods in it.

Forced aspiration can be an amazing thing. There are Civics out there with 750 - 1000 bhp, more than enough to toast a C5. Put them on a road course and the C5 would, of course, own the Civic, but in terms of straight-line speed, a Civic with a turbocharger the size of a basketball will make a C5 look pretty foolish. BTW, your Jimmy does NOT have VTEC.

It's so funny - all those vette guys saying no matter how fast the civic is, it's still an econobox. They don't realize that owners of exotics have been saying that all along about the vette. No matter how fast it is, it's still the econobox of the sports car world. I've sat in a few C5's and even a Z06 - the interior is disgustingly cheap for a $50k car. Lots of plastic. It felt like a Camaro interior. Sure, the Z06 can beat the F355, Modena, NSX, Porsche's, etc., but it'll always be "just a Chevy" just like the Civic will always be "just a Honda".

For $50k, give me an M3. Pretty good performance and much better quality than the C5.

What an idiot to be drag racing a C5, or any vette that isnt preped for it. They have NEVER been built for it stock, the fact that it will still do a respectable 13 or so in the quarter is just a credit to it's overall ability.
I want to see the civic manuver @150mph, the vette will.

That and I want to see a vette with a turbo agenst a civic with a turbo.

I know of a guy with a school bus that will best the both of them in the 1/4, big deal.

Say what you want, it's still a civic, not to take anythign away from the guy, nothing wrong with that at all. But look at what had to be done to get it where it is. I could build a rusted out 78 Nova with a 350 and a small nitrous shot that would beat a new vette, it dosent matter, it's still a 78 Nova that dosent have 1/5 of the overall performance of the vette. You can through enough money at anything and make it do something(s) good, but show me something in the price class with equlivent performance of the C5.

Ofcourse the largest idiot here is the vette owner that had his C5 on a drag strip, it has no place there other than maybe for curiosity's sake.

Some people just dont deserve what they have...

I think there's something to be said my taking an "econobox" and turning it into a high-performance competitor.
There's an element of personal satisfaction that goes over just going to a car dealer and saying "gimme fast car."

You can say it's "just a Honda" but the work that made it a fast competitor is admirable.
