LOL, dude it's an A+ test. Why would I think I'm a god when I passed that dumb ass test? You know what's even more retarded than that test? Charging $300 for it! That test it worth $50 for BOTH parts, MAX. Now if I walked in and aced the CCIE test, than yeah, I'd think I'm the sh!t. But I didn't.
Your post is nothing more than an attempt to wave your e-penis around and throw crap in this thread.
Hey, we were all staying on topic in here talking about the A+ test and then you came in here talking about penises. Why don't you stay on topic and worry less about my penis. I can't help it if you suck at hardware and barely passed the test. That's your problem, not mine.

I thought A+ was a joke?

It's a joke in the sense that whoever writes the exam has very little conception of the real world scenarios that happen with PC's. How many times or when was the last time did you actually look up the memory range or checked and IRQ for a problem on a PC? Very rarely do technicians even do this with latest APIC.

On the other hand, In order to become HP or IBM certified or even Dell certified, you must have an A+ cert as a prerequisite to take their test.
I'm can't speak for IBM or HP, but you definitely don't have to be A+ certifed to be Dell certified. And talk about another joke cert. All you have to do on a Dell cert is just surf through their website to find your answers. WTF is that all about? I don't want to seem like I'm beating down on all these certs but seriously, a cert you can surf to find the answers?

Certs in general are a joke, far more important is the ability to think logically and at times creatively and hands on experience.

It is worth getting it. Besides giving a person a better handle on the fundamentals, most advanced certs tell you to start with A+.

Here is another plug for the Mike Meyers A+ and Network+ books. I read both books cover to cover and passed both tests.

Redbeard1= A+, Network+, Server+

I came pretty close to getting perfect scores too. My opinion is, if you can't pass the A+ test, you shouldn't be in IT. And if you're not going to be in IT, there's no need to take it.

I was in the same boat 6 months ago. I had to take it for my job. I could have passed without studying, but I had already been a computer tech for a while. Overall it's pretty easy for someone with good tech/helpdesk experiance.

Edit: I have some IBM certs too and they do require A+ but are complete BS. IBM/Lenovo certs just make sure you know thier marketing jargon like software app names.
