I beg to differ. Here in NYC, an A+ will maybe and I mean it strictly- WIll get you a job at Bestbuy or CompUSA. If the poster wants to settle for a sub $10/hr job, so be it.
That's just lame. Best Buy generally looks for someone who has some computer knowledge and someone who can flat out sell like a car salesman. My friend got a job at Best Buy and he was told the most important thing for him was to push the warranty replacement plan on computer & other purchases.

at your age get all the certs you can

As of right now I only really have heard of the A+ cert. What do you recommend other then the A+ cert?

There's many many certs available. You can get certified in almost anything. With age on your side, might as well start from the beginning (A+, Network+ etc... I think they have Server + now too). Then work on your MCSE and look into Citrix and Cisco certs also..

A+ is garbage man. I doubt it will help you advance in your career. The biggest point of advancement in terms of monetary and personal status was completing my CCIE.
Your negativity isn't helping him get a job. Typical cert-hating crap that's always spewed in certification threads. He isn't asking to take over R&D at intel. At the least an A+ will do nothing, and at the most it will help a little, so what's the problem?

No problems at all....Just stating the facts of the industry.....If u have a problem, hit me on PM..
Man, let's take it outside!

You spend way too much time on here, pal. It's time to grow out of your Internet Thug-life.

to the OP of this thread....your 15 years old.....when I was 15 I had some spare time on my hands, so I would recommend taking the test, maybe your situation is different...if you do take it, get the mike myers book, it is well written...some HR people actually think the A+ is something worth having, but nothing will replace experience

Absolut! - and at 15 thats a pretty cool thing.

I PROPOSE THAT WE DONATE MONEY TO GET HIS STUDY BOOK.

I have 20.00 if someone will match it???

YOu can get the objectives from the CompTIA website. Also the Network+ exam is going to change for 2005. The exam is being finalized and I think it should come out in the later part of 2005.
