A case that would match a G5.

Nice. Problem is, unless you are a skilled moder, I don't think you'll be able to accomodate PC stuff inside that case.

I am sorry, but I find this thread quite pointless. There is no PC case that can compare to a G5 case, anywhere. The Lian-Li PC-V1100 is nice though...in my opinion, much nicer than the 1000. More expensive too, though 🙁

Why do people argue over someone else's option. Its crazy. I personal don't think the apple cases are that great, but if the poster does fine. Post a case that is close to what he likes or just shut up. I like SSF case but alot of people don't. I flame people for getting towers. To each his own. Help him or move out of his way.

Good luck

PS
for towers apples are ok.

Just a comment, my office just got a G5 ... it's a real beauty ... but the weight of this thing is just well ... too much for my taste.
The G5 was configured with dual proc + 1 optical drive + 1 internal drive and it's almost twice as heavy as my home pc (also dual proc + 1 optical drive + 5 internal drives + 1 floppy).

By the way ... that Lian-Li V1000 is probably the closest thing you can get to the G5 in my opinion ... though I think in term of colour the G5 is just a bit darker.

Those G5's are water cooled aren't they tungtung? That might account for some of the weight, with a radiator, water and reservoir.

Now that you mention it ... I guess it is ... haven't got time to really poke inside it yet.

Only the highest end model (the previous gens 2.5 dualie, and this gens 2.7 dualie) is running water cooling. All of the other G5s use massive heatsinks and 9 OS controlled fans, creating thermal zones and efficient heat routing. However, it does get interesting when things malfunction. At work, we had a 1.6 G5 powermac that for some reason was malfunctioning on the thermal front (my guess is it needed some software updates, but those were locked out/restricted to only our 2 main IT guys). As a result of a bug, after 10 minutes or so, the fans would roar to full speed. When a G5s fans all run at full speed it sounds like a leaf blower. When normal, the machine is very acceptable accoustically.
