Buncha noobs, all of you.

Listen -- atheism isn't a religion for the same reasons that theism isn't a religion. They are both attributes of particular worldviews, but they are not worldviews unto themselves. Christianity is a theistic religion. Islam is a theistic religion. Mahayana Buddhism is an atheistic religion.

Anyone that tries to treat atheism as an ideological monolith is a fucking idiot, plain and simple.

HTH

The bolded is not the most appropriate language for the Discussion Club.

not all atheists are religious nor is atheism defined by this pseudo-religion of atheism

your point is correct and i agree with you

however i was talking about some other interrelated but distinct topic

Not as much as what I am asking about, but you're evading the question.

it was thought that was considered in relation with the rest of my quote

i have been trying to think of the right words to use for what i am thinking about in some of these posts

I mean, your "God lowered my friend's tax bill" miracle story was pretty convincing. But not convincing enough.
No one will ever convince some people....regardless how many working for the IRS were to come forward and say this never ever happens given my friends exact circumstances.....why? Because you would say -- supposedly it did happen thus it can happen.....

So sorry that you think you can explain this way when even people at the top of the food chain who work for the IRS cannot explain what happened... other than it did happen....so believe what you will and I will believe what I will!!

You seem to know a lot about it, I have never heard of such a thing. So provide some details please.

I didn't know we had a book of our "beliefs". I'm pretty sure our only real belief is that there is no, and never was any deity(ies) looking over us at any time during our past through to the present.

What else do we "believe" in?

You don`t need to have a book to be considered a religion....
For example...Buddhist have no Bible but they do have books of teachings...

The same way most Atheists embrace scientific journals and books written by scientists and others who agree with there belief system...

Not all Atheists hold science in high regard. It's moot though, why is having respect to our best Knowledge a bad thing? How is it a Religious thing? I also like to add, are you going to implicate Mathematics into my Atheism as well?
