Confirmation bias. How does it work?

It's not shocking or supernatural that people's cancer is benign.

You're claiming that the weakest, most intellectually dishonest statement in this thread is ownage?

That says a lot about you.

Huh? I'm saying he got owned because he said atheists never offer links to evidence and then you did 2 posts later. He made a positive claim and lost. To me that is ownage.

ITT atheists are more worried about ownage than explaining what they believe.

Though... I'm not surprised.

let me give you an example of what I would consider to be an answer to prayer with no explainable other outcome!

True story --
I had a friend who left the country to go to England! I collected her mail and would open them for her when she communicated via Skype!

Well all her accounts were frozen by the Federal tax people.
Seems she owed over $12,000 in back taxes.
She called the tax people and managed to get her accounts unfrozen.
Then she asked me to pray that this matter will get solved.
Then 3 days later, it took her that long to get a line through to speak to a real person.
Seems she did owe the money and they wanted the money now and because it was over 7 years ago she could not set up a payment plan via the internet.
During the same call she asked to speak to a supervisor. The supervisor informed her that she did not owe the $12, 000 and than she owed only $6,000. She asked how did that happen?
It seems that during the 3 days that we had been praying the government deducted money that was owed her from the past.
Now it gets better.......
I being a stubborn person went online and using information that she gave me tried to set up a payment online.......well I succeeded......and when the total that she owed came on the screen she now owed get this $1,500. needed less to say she made 3 payments as was done with the whole thing!

Now there is a retired IRS agent who has a very successful Tax office locally who is also a friend of mine. I related the story to him. he said that had never happened in a 30years that he had worked fore the IRS. In fact when he heard what I told him he asked me to bring my friend by when she comes back from England.

Well they met and she allowed him to make some calls to verify what had happened.

he was besides himself......again everyone he talked to about this had told him there must be some mistake, this never ever happens. Well to this day I claim this as being an answer to prayer!!

Discuss....

What is there to discuss? Did nobody tell you why they reduced the amount? Oh wait.. God doesn't like taxes so he "fixed the glitch", not once but twice. He had a brain fart the first time and forgot he knows everything and corrected it the second time.

Yes, sometimes things happen that are beyond the explanation of the people who originally observed it.

That's not proof that prayer caused it.

That's called confirmation bias. Do you understand what confirmation bias is?

You are not using those words in the proper context! In this case all those 2 words are is your way or more Atheist talking points....

Also just because I have you pegged I also went and put confirmation bias in my search engine and I received dozens of Atheist sites...hmm wonder why?

You guys afraid that prayer really is answered??

Actually it is proof! Here is why --
When even people from the IRS says that what I just posted never happens and people were praying concerning this matter......you cannot even claim this would have happened anyways!
why?
because even IRS officials said this never happens! Yet it happened!
why?
Because of prayer!!
more proof that you are not being sincere at all...
more proof that all you are doing is trolling and that any thing posted to support an answer to prayer will be summarily dismissed with what you consider to be an explanation!

Finally if I knew who to give credit to for this happening to my friend I would...but who?

Also I know ans do most Christians who are honest that usually God does not heal without involving say a real doctor or groups of doctor.
it is fallacious if you get a cold and don`t go to the doctor and after a few weeks you get well and you say that god healed you!
No he did not! The cold ran it`s course and is now gone!

But you cannot explain away my example of prayer that easily!!

Sorry you fail as will most Atheist to understand that even the people who work in the system -- IRS said this never happens! Yet it happened.....and yet you expect an explanation when even those who work for the IRS have no explanation.....okay it was a coincidence..lolol

yet I will give you credit, you are not the typical Atheist in this thread!
Peace!!

It may have never happened before, but they will run an audit to figure it out. I doubt in there briefing they wrote down "prayer" was the cause lol

It's not shocking or supernatural that people's cancer is benign.

"and some others" is the really good and completely convincing stuff

I'm very happy that my parents didn't get cancer. Prayer definitely worked there.

You know what's the better than all of that?

God chose to grant me mercy for my sins by compelling me to faith in Jesus Christ. God gave me my Salvation. Yay!

William Lane Craig is a psychotic young-earth creationist fundamentalist who has absolutely zero scientific background. He's a snake oil salesman.

I don't think WLC is a YEC, but his arguments have been beaten down so many times it's ridiculous.

Even IRS officials sais this never happens and there was no explanation how it happened...so sorry!

LOL. 'IRS official(s)' = one of your dopey friends. You know that's not the same thing right? But, even if an event is rare, doesn't mean it's miraculous when it occurs.

I do know that my retired IRS friend made calls to IRS officials who were not retired...

This just proves my point that there is no sense discussing prayer or even examples of prayers that were answered because the Atheist talking point is always to attempt to disprove and offer nothing except idiocracy in return!

The issue is, is that what you've described isn't sufficient evidence of a 'miracle'. When she asked 'why is this bill being reduced?' What did they say? You conveniently left that part out, and filled in 'because God' instead.

This was the line from earlier:

'During the same call she asked to speak to a supervisor. The supervisor informed her that she did not owe the $12, 000 and than she owed only $6,000. She asked how did that happen?' What was their response when she asked?

Bullshit.

Want to know what I believe? Null set. Void. I'm still waiting for a religious person to provide evidence to support their positive claims.

see the problem you have is no matter what anybody presents as an answer to prayer, you will try to unsuccessfully explain away!!

...and now you're clearly trolling. Is it any wonder that Christians have poor reputations?

Atheism is a religion. Atheists reject reality and substitute their own made up falsehoods. The very name of this religion, atheism ( without God) is a rejection of reality.

Is it any wonder that Atheists have poor reputations?
