A case fan is a case fan, right?

I just bought a new case and it has room for 2 80mm fans and 1 120mm fan. I was planning on buying one 80 and one 120. I was just wondering if it's really worth it to go with a specific brand or anything or if I can just go for the cheapest one and not worry about it. Thanks!

if u want quiet, then go for a more expensive name brand fan. if you really dont care for noise, then go for the cheap ones. just to let you know, the cheap ones are normally loud!

Get a nice, expensive Thermaltake Smart Case Fan 2. The expensiveones are usually loud but move the most air. The SCF2 can work 3 ways. First off, it can be its full 4800 RPM. Or, it can be controlled by its own included controller or, it can be regulated by a thermal diode that comes with it. If noise isn't a problem for you, or u have a fan controller already, get a Vantec Tornado.

Fans are usually expensive because they're very quiet, or they move a lot of air. I use $30 Acoustifan's in my case.

I was looking at that one. It's less than 2 bucks, and 60 people say it's quiet and it works great. Should I go for it?

I got 10 of these for $10 shipped. Very good fan for the price. I see Newegg has raised the limit to 15 to get free shipping. 15 fans for $15 shipped is very good deal. These are sleeved and come with both 3 and 4 pin connectors. At 5 and 7V it's virtually silent. I don't know how they sound at 12V since I never run case fans at full speed. Buy 15 of them and you'll be set for very long time.

I just bought 10 of these not to long ago from Newegg. The quality is pretty good for such an inexpensive fan. They are sleeved which is more impressive. However, they are not exactly whisper quiet. I don't mind a little noise, but if you are one these people that want a completely silent system, I would spend the extra money on a Panaflo. Overall, I think the Speeze is a nice quality product for the money.

Are you running your fans at 12v? Try undervolting at 7 or 5v. It should be real quiet.

It's real simple. All you need to do is move one pin from fan's 4 pin molex connector. Like this. link

If 7v is still too loud then you can do the 5 volt mod. I run my fans at 5 volt but 7V is good compromise and gives you decent performance and quiet.

Naustica, If you've done the 7V mod to the Speeze fans, the I really need your need. I followed the instructions on the link, but I couldn't open up the 4 pin hole. I can only open the top 2 pins connectors on these speeze fans, the bottom 2 connectors will not open up. I hope you understand what I mean. Let me know if you need more details, I really need this mod. Anyone, thanks in adavnce.
