Eh, this is just going to spawn religious debate.

The man wasn't that great. He just supported the tyrannical hierarchal system that the bible puts in place to make people obey leaders and convince them nothings wrong with the world allowing them to live like sheep giving them excuses to suppress others and ignore the rest.

This isn't about religion, asshole. It's about good artistic expression that evokes emotion in people.

Whether JPII was a good man has no bearing on this thread, so why don't you just take your anti-everything rhetoric and leave the fvcking thread?

Didn't know I was anti-everything, thank you for pointing that. And weather or not cartooning is artistic expression is debatable, the drawings are obviosly there to promote him as a good person, which is what you are obviously supporting. What, because he's dead i should just confrom and say "well, he's dead, i guess i'll say he's a good guy"...hmm, i know, hitlers dead "guess he's a good guy huh"

So whether JP^2 was a good man does have bearing, because its what you are supporting, and i can't let that go out of my own moral obligation.

You stated originally that he just made people believe that nothing was wrong with the world and that his followers should blindly obey him.

On the contrary, JPII worked for real change in the world and fought to equalize the wrongs committed in nations around the Earth. Sure, he wasn't perfect (the Church sex scandal, for example), but I think everyone can agree that he used his position much more effectively than most popes who preceeded him.

I'm not Catholic, nor am I a religious person, but if you can't see through religion and religious positions to a person's real persona, then I feel very sorry for you.

There are many people who have his view on the Catholic church and JP2 as a result. He's very much like those people who hate MLK. They can't see past their hatred to appreciate what the man tried to accomplish.

Plus, I agree with mosh, he's just trolling.

i still dont feel your making a valid point, if someone is working wtih a base system that is flawed and evil so to speak, i fail to see how they can do any good becasue he was not against the system itself, but infact supported it though his actions. either way, i feel there is nothing you can say to convince me other wise and since this conversation could go on forever because there's no real right answer, i'm going to stop responding, unless you'd really like to continue talking about it.

that and i gotta get back to the java programming before my boss realizes i spend to much time on ATOT.

Why does heaven always have to be in the clouds. Can't it be on the beach? With some nice sun, a cool drink, etc etc.

Why don't you put a disclaimer on your fvcking threads saying only the self righteous needs to click here?

I liked the one with the Vatican casting his shadow. The rest of them all seemed like when someone asks you to sign a card for someone you don't know. Well, they all seemed like that, but the Vatican shadow one was the one that seemed like some thought was put into it.
