The recent conservative government has made great strides to modernize the army. It's a lot better than it was say... 5 years ago.
True, it has gotten better recently. Still woefully undersized and under-equipped though. You guys are still fighting with Leopard 1s, 105mm cannon. I do like the new M113's though - although I think that might predate Harper?

Personally I like Harper too.

Hopefully he is up to it and he can redeem Canada's reputation in terms of its actions in Africa. The involvement of Canadian leaders and government in Somalia, Rwanda, and Sudan is a stain on Canada's reputation.

Clueless as usual.

To be fair to the Liberals, they also sent in an order to replace the Sea King Helicopters from the 60's (Although it was originally their party that turned down the upgrade proposal).

It's a good time for the forces in terms of equipment, but still a long ways to go (especially the Navy).

Leopard 1s are still pretty good, and Canada got some Leopard 2 tanks too, at least 100 Leo 2s.

How the hell Canada going to enforce the no fly zone, if Canada couldn't defend the arctic?

NORAD? I dunno. If you're talking about the waters, we're working on icebreakers right now.
1 boat to patrol 1.5 million km2 (hopefully commission by 2017). Can I assume that they are going to have 1 Sea King to enforce the no fly zone in Libya...
