A/C help

I have a 1999 Accord EX V6 which has had an issue with the A/C for at least the past few years. The compressor will never shut off no matter what it's set to. I've bypassed the compressor wire to a switch in the cabin so I can manually turn it on and off.

I've recently replaced the compressor, the expansion valve, and the dash climate controls and nothing has changed. The sucker just keeps running. The dealership has no clue, neither did an A/C specialist I sent it to.

My only guess is there's a short somewhere.

Any ideas?

Sacrificing a goat to Cthulhu never hurts.

I agree with the short, but I'll bet it'd be a royal PITA to check the whole wiring harness.

:cthulhu:

I drop off my '09 Accord loaner today, I'm not a big fan of it, but maybe it's just the 4 cylinder. I ordered a new climate control module in case somehow the replacement one I got was defective. I figured I'll spend $40 more before tearing things apart. I'd like to somehow trace the wire that goes from the control unit to the relay. I'm pretty sure I replaced the relays already.

Heh, I feel your pain. I've got a leaky compressor in my cavalier. I can fill it with freon and it works for maybe a few days before it all leaks out. Needless to say I usually just suffer through the heat as I can't afford to replace the compressor. In your case though, have you checked the thermostat/pressure sensors? If those have faulty outputs, then it could be that is what is causing your compressor to continually run...

I'm thinking it's the PCM/PCU/ECM/ECU, whatever you kids call it today! I'm trying to pick one up on eBay to see if that's the issue.

For what you've got in this repair, you could have bought the factory service manual and diagnosed it for real. Just a thought.

I've already got a repair manual, if either the PCM of the climate control unit are toast there's not much repairing them, just replacing them. Same with the compressor and expansion valve.
