A broken family....needs fixing.....

As I sit here wondering and thinking about the TeAm Anandtech situation the last few months, my mind just stops....Why are we having these "fights" or "flames" or members leaving one right after another....

Any extended family can have disagreements and arguments, but our family is broken...That's the way I see it and I'm not sure anymore that there is a solution. We have fallen from our graceful DC leading position to a truely broken home. We fight among ourselves while the other teams monitor us. They must be doing something better than we, for they are thriving...Maybe as in Top Gun...We've lost the edge.

I had really grown to love the Family spirit that once was here and the great friendship, fun, joking and poking that resulted.....This group seems to be heading the same path as some of the other forums on this board...sadly. I truely love the mini-team spirit that has been exhibited...Some here have left for that reason, but the mini-teams are thriving and are enjoying each other...trying ever so careful to not step on someone or offend them (why I don't know?) while playing with each other. Thanks TA-Cube, RC5Crackheads, TWTA for the great fun you guys have provided.

from the great start that I saw when I started this several months ago, I see only one thing now...

A broken family....

Take care all....I hope everyone finds what they are looking for. I did for awhile

I'm going to take some time and spend with my real family....I hope this one can find a solution to its problems...

Edit: I'm not leaving RC5 or TeAm Anandtech...I truely love this family and wishes it success...I just need to gather my thoughts and start a new "kick the DPC" or something similar campaign....Thanks for reading and have a nice night :)

As Two-Face would say: With Love and Respect....Your fellow TA member :)

Update #2: Feeling better now...Now go at it...Not at each other...at the DPC!

With Love from your family member, Engineer! Damnit!

My own person two cents on mini-teams, taken directly from the TA IRC channel tonight:

<networkman> Maybe I'm really dense, but as to mini-teams: SO WHAT?!? So a mini-team passes me as an individual.. should I get depressed and blow my head off? Of course not, just consider that it took a bunch working together to pass me and leave it at that. Hey! "Michael and the Cuppies" just blew by me in SETI.. am I upset.. ennhh.. perhaps a little, but that just inspires me to get assimilating myself and talk to people and bring more of 'em(people not PCs) into our team effort.

I agree with what Engineer has stated above, though I won't be spending any time with my real family as I don't have one(really). Okay, some friends, so that's cool, but I've got a firm grasp on reality(or at least this one anyways.) :)

everyone asks why our membership is low compared to what it could be? Here's why. Only a handful of us have been around for long. Even fewer still stick around through it all.

My 2cents.

Engineer, while it sucks to lose you too, it's only a break, so we'll let you leave without the standard blockectomy.;) Have fun on your little break, and try not to remember us too well, as we don't want you having nightmares.;)

As for you BK, you're definately right in that our turnover rate has something to do with it. Out of the 1st gen guys(all those predating the great statsbox outage of 99'), we only have a handful, mabey half a dozen or so. We definately should be doing better.

PS For those that don't know, this whole issue relates to DanC being dissapointed that we won't do a mass-mailing to the bottom 400 members of TA on Dnet

ViRGE,

That is only the straw. It is a of a lot more complicated than a single thread, and a single idea.

Russ, thank you for saying what I wanted to say.

If it was as simple as Virge has described

<< this whole issue relates to DanC being dissapointed that we won't do a mass-mailing >>

do you think so many people would be so greatly disappointed.

Get a clue - thank you

I'm only talking about the catalyst, not the entire issue.

Engineer
I left town yesterday(sat. 07) about 6:30am with your post, this reply
on my screen(tear in my eye, I might add) : (

I could not think of an adequate reply. : (

Now I return 36 hours later to find a new dawn on TA and renewed spirit and even more zeal to accomplish our goal : )

so my reply was not needed now, now I think hell.. post anyway and bring this thread to the top and maybe people will read Mikes post
(MWalkden) 4 above ^ this one..

let me repeat that MWalkden's post 4 place up ^

so thanks Engineer and MWalkden,
and everyone on TA and that doesnt mean some, many, a few or most everyone means everyone

Dale,

As I read your reply, the same tear formed as it was a wonderful reply.....Our TeAm (Family) is in the process of healing itself....I hope for much better results this time...There seems to be a renewed vivrance here...IRC has filled with joyfull member....The forums have a renewed spirit..Things are definitely looking up!

As I posted the original post above, I really didn't know what to think at the time....(Yes, I admit that more than one tear flowed while writing that one...Something I'm not ashamed to admit, as it felt like I was losing a real family member...

I really love the family (TeAm) that we have here...If I didn't, I wouldn't care...I want to have fun and enjoy the DC experience...This FAMILY is the bigest part of that....Racing or passing unknowns means little....having fun with the actual people means alot!

I want to reiterate you statement Dale...Everyone means EVERYONE...

Thank you Family....:)
