I would think that for the number of tickets they will sell at that airline they could just lay them on a table.

Yup, and for the short-haul flights that Ryanair specializes in he's right.

Also, R.

There was a big thread on this a couple years ago. Photos even were included of standing "seats".

What I think they should do is Japanese style capsule stacking hotel planes. Think coffins stacked up three high. Fits more people than chairs and we ALL lie flat.

Like a Bus or a Subway I guess. You stand but the fair is very cheap and no seat belts.

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepag...s-says-you-dont-need-seatbelts-on-planes.html

First of all, Ryanair (not to be confused with Ryan Air) is an Irish airline. Michael O'Leary, a wealthy Irish business (hmm, I thought that was an oxymoron, guess not) is the CEO of the airline. Several times he has mentioned bringing the Southwest Airlines model to the UK and Europe, albeit with an even more profit driven modus operandi.

Secondly, no way will they forego any seatbelt requirement unill something has changed.

I met O'Leary once at a Boeing event where he took delivery of a milestone airframe. In the interest of professionalism, I will forego leaving my personal comments. I will say he had boundless enthusiasm for his airline.

I think most Americans don't realize just how close most city pairs are in Europe, standing for 40 minutes is not a problem at all as long as safety is not compromised.

Below is an artist conception of what a standing seat would look like.

I actually am CEO of an airline and I have charged my execs to come up with a plan that we can put in place inside of two years that legally puts all passengers to sleep as soon as they enter the plane, get put into a personalized box, and stacked like wood into both the cargo hold and general seating area (which will no longer have seats).

You could save a lot of money if you forgo the expensive box and just stack 'em up as-is. Add some shelving so that the fatties don't asphyxiate everyone below them, and you're in business.
