A brand new Zephyr!? Ordered from Dell.com

I was on the hunt for a Jasper pro and after seeing a few lucky souls receive them from Dell.com I thought I'd give it a try since they had a 15% off deal running. Upon inspecting the unopened package thru the serial number window I was astonished to see 16,5a listed on the console. I had expected to see 14,2a if it wasn't a jasper but not that. here's proof:

I suppose either one of two things happened.
A: They had some old labels left over from Zephyr and decided to use them up.
B: It is a genuine Zephyr 1 year after the successor Falcon supposedly took over. Can you say RROD!

I am not even going to crack the case to see the power plugin or supply because this baby is headed straight back where it came from!

Talk amongst yourselves.

Very true. But I'm just confused as to why MS would still have these around after so long and so many problems with RROD. I've been thru that ringamurral and I don't want to again.

I would send it back honestly. Falcon has been out for well over a year. They shouldn't stiff you with that.

This....my unit also has the old label but comes with a 175W power supply with 14.2 A current rating.

I believe it doesn't matter what the power brick says. The console label and the shape of the power plug inlet on the console itself is what determines what model your console is.

Check out this link and compare it to your consoles.

I hope mislabeling is all that is going on here. It sounds like we already have two on this thread who have Falcons but ti says 16,5a on the label.

Found this recent listing on the Xbox drive database:

Hey ashishmishra & Xed, what was the manufacture date and team on your consoles?

I would cover up some of those important numbers in that last picture since this is a publically accessible internet forum. 😉

Yay! I just registered me a brand new XBox!!!

I don't have the time to figure out how to edit it out so I just took it down. Take my word for it now that it was 16,5a.

Just to clarify, it doesn't matter what the console label says. The power supply will NEVER be mislabeled since that can become a potential hazard, so a 175W unit is the best and the fastest way to confirm that you don't have the first gen hardware and having the 150W unit will confirm that you don't have either the 1st or the 2nd gen.

My unit's manufacture date is 12/12/07. The shape of the power plug (on the console) confirms it to be a 2nd generation 360.
